Traditional colors?

Hey folks,
Sorry if this has been asked, but I searched and found no results. I'm getting ready to pick up a scrambler, but am having a tough time on the last decision. Now, I know that the polished engine is the traditional look, so I found one each of the '06 bikes to choose from.... a red/white or a blue/white. ( both new leftovers ) Is there a "traditional" Triumph color combo from the late 60's era? I really am about down to a coin flip on deciding as I like them equally. I'm sure there are many Triumph historians and purists that have the knowledge on this one.
Anyway, thanks for replies and I'll be knocking around here more after I actually have the bike.

Triumph used several different shades of both red & blue throughout the '60s,although none matched exactly the Tornado Red,or Caspian Blue of the Scrambler. The red & white on my Scramby is pretty close to the red & white on my '69 Bonnie, though(a completely different paint scheme, however). I picked the red one because I liked it better. That's what you should do too.Pick the one you like the best.

Well, while waiting to pick up the scrambler I've been collecting photos of the bike from the net for comparison. I keep finding examples of bikes that I like of each color. Last night my wife was watching "The 'L' Word" on Showtime, and one of the characters rides a blue '06... looked very cool on the road and in hi-def. I think I may have a line on a used blue '06 with 2k on it for$6,600. That may be the deciding factor.

Also, on the topic, since I'm trying to collect my Triumph history beforehand, does anyone have a suggestion on a book on the history? I've found a few, "History of Triumph Motorcycles" and such, but none seem to be published current enough to cover this last generation and up to at least 2007. I want to know about the models, engine devolopment, racers, championships, the culture from the Ace Cafe to The Great Escape and the company story from the first to Hinckley and Thailand.
Being my first Triumph, I feel a responsibility to know about the lineage before I just take the keys and ride away.

None of the general Triumph history books I have found cover the new Hinckley Triumphs particularly well.

For my money there is one outstanding book that captures the essence of the history of Triumph well, and it has stunningly beautiful pictures.

It is "Triumph Motorcycles: A Century of Passion and Power" by Lindsay Brooke. My edition is the 100th Anniversary, 2002 edition. I don't know if there is a later edition or not.

Two sources to check are Amazon.com, (search Triumph Motorcycles), and motorbooks.com, (same search.)

Glad to see there will be an new Trumpet rider among us soon.

Outstanding. That sounds just like what I'm looking for. Thanks for the tip. Yes, I'm pretty pumped about the new bike. As soon as I sat on it at the dealer, I knew it was right. I just sold a WeeStrom, which was so dull it sucked the life from me. The Scrambler instantly reminded me of the fun I used to have on bikes. Going for a test ride as soon as the temperature gets above 40deg. hopefully, that will nail the deal home.

Talking Red & White

For me it would be an easy choice to go with the red & white. Those are University of Utah Runnin' Ute colors. Blue & white are BYU colors.
