Back in the day...when AEE was pumping out the first production "custom" parts, and David Mann in K.C. was getting to know the El Forasteros, a certain custom car fabricator and painter by the name of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth was pinstripping bikes, and in 1966 published what is felt to be the first magazine devoted to custom bike builds.
Big Daddy bought some Mann's earliest work and his magazine "Choppers" was born.
In 1970, Big Daddy sold the magazine (after a visit by a certain Club upset about profiteering at its expense).
Later, of course, Mann's work flourished in EasyRider and AEE had launched it's own Street Chopper magazine.
Trying to find a copy of the original issue of Choppers, is of course, next to impossible.
But for those here who like to chop or appreciate modifying their bikes in any way, the Big Boo and I would like to provide you with a copy of the very first Choppers magazine.....Check out the Triumph chop on p. 4..
