DOH! of the week

Well, I pulled the bonehead move of the week. Have been trying to figure the mileage (distance) I could go on a full tank. Usually reset the odometer, but haven't riden for a few weeks. Thought I had lotsa gas, LOL, had the fuel tank petcock on reserve, need I say more???
Best tip I can offer, if you run outta gas, when you refuel it (roadside that is) let the bike sit for about 5 minites to allow the carb float bowls to refill. It will restart right away.

Still learning the hardway Jim

Hey we've all had some kind of Homer Simpson moments. Maybe the old airbox, would make a nice storage location for an extra small can of fuel, just in case. I think I've come up with a new mod idea. At least for those with no air box.

I almost did the same thing. Forgot to switch back to main after refueling. After about 170 miles I was thinking, "dang I'm getting great mileage on this tank." DOH!

you know you were not out of gas, quite

If you get stopped this way lean the bike to the left and slosh away you have another ten to twenty miles trapped on the right side of the tunnel. it may get you farther if you are careful, to a station.

I reset my trip meter when I refuel, & use that as a gauge. So if I go past my usual reserve, I know that I forgot to reset the petcock. It's also useful for keeping an eye on your fuel consumption, & how it can vary, with different ride conditions.
