150/70 Rear-110/90 Front

Just got back from Houston where I had both tires changed out and wanted to relate my opinion on the new sizes[at least for me.] Since I got 8200 out of my Metezlers, and that is with some aggressive driving out here in the boonies, I decided to stay with them one more time and go up a size, which is about as big as you can get before swapping rims. The new tires look great. After riding Duckmann's Thrux with just the 150/70's rear and stock front tire, I noticed a little shimmy above 70 which I figured was due to changing of the original geometry. A little movement of the front was exaggerated to the rear, or at least that's my conclusion and the reason to get the front done even though I could of gotten another 3000miles out of it. Anyway after riding back home which is a nice 60 mi run I went to a piece of road that gave me the shakes and shimmies. This piece of road on Hiway 59 is a tight "S" curve that has been grooved out by TxDot due to wrecks when wet. On the stock tires the bike would shimmy and walk around pretty good giving me a pucker factor when I was forced to use it. On the wider tires there was no such shaking, just a little, controllable wiggle, when transitioning the left, right turn and crossing the middle that had the deepest grooves. There was no tendency to follow the grooves like before. I then hit some farm-to-market twisties, and it was a joy to ride. Very easy to lay over and roll out of. I'm very happy with the new set of LazerTec's and look forward to breaking them in. Still 70 degrees around here, but it won't last for long.....probably till February. Gotta luv the Texas Gulf Coast weather.

I know the 150/70 on my Bonnie has been a Plus...Less tracking in grooves...grated bridges seem to be easier to manage...the turn in is much nicer, I don't feel like I'm pushing towards the sidewall too soon compared with the 130...Steering at low speeds is a cake walk....and the overall look is a plus.

These tire sizes should have stock on the Bonnie and the Thrux. The tires look right in comparison with the rest of the bike.

What are some options on the front of a Thruxton?
