New Bike...Well Almost...
Hey Gang,
Normally I wouldn't post a story about a new bike without pics, but seeing as how the girlfriend didn't sound impressed at all I figure I would share the news with people who would care:
Just went and put some cash down on a 08 Black Bonneville. Apparently it has '08 numbers, but has '07 body ie...unchanged tank.
So I now have 4/5 months to save some cash for the aftermarket pieces and WAIT...
And I just heard that they are predicting a colder winter with more snow. As long as it is done by April 1st I'll be happy.
So, let the mod spending begin!

Hey man, congrats on the decision, which is an excellent choice! I'm here in socal and couldn't fathom having to wait until april to ride it, so yes I think moding is going to take up your time!
Forget the girlfriend man.....bonnie will be your baby. If the girl doesn't like the bonnie, she aint the right one no offense, but it's probably true)
As for the bike, since you have time, I would totally do the mods yourself, like bobing fenders, changing pipes, etc....if you have space to do it, it will be a great way for you and bonnie to get to know each other really well. :

Great! Don't worry about the weather report, they were predicting a nastier than usual Atlantic hurricane season too, and very little came of it this year.

I was at my dealer today and they had an 08 green/white bonne as well as the black bonne. Only difference I could see was the tankbadge, (which many seem to mind that its plastic) but not really a major thing as the price was still the same from last year.
Sharp looking bike. Hope for a quick 4-5mths.
BTW, you also have a new Versys? Life's tough when it snows...

My wife, who was never into motorcycling until I showed her the road thought I was insane for buying a Motorcycle as did my horrified mother. When I brought my 2007 Black home my wife immediately fell in love with her. The first time I brought her over to my parents house my mother came outside and said she was the most beautiful bike she has ever seen and she has seen 3 other ones I have owned in the past and many of my friends bikes as well. Anyway, enough of that -
Since you say your ready to mod may I suggest you do as I did. Get the British Customs Basic Performance kit, the Nology coil and wires and a pair of Iridium plugs and you will never regret spending the money and slapping this stuff on as soon as she is un-crated as I did. I say if your going to jump, and it sounds like you want to, then jump in with both feet running my man!

What to buy?
I have seen the kits of the different sites, and there is almost too much choice. I am sure I will be able to pick something out. The bad thing we are starting home reno's in Jan, so spring is gonna be a little tight until the summer, but then it's time for a new garage for the new bike, which makes summer a little tight and so on and so on.
The Versys...it's a great bike, but it's not me...So if anyone wants to buy it?...
I had the g/f on the back, and being that it is a taller bike, I just didn't feel safe/secure on it. It was ok for city driving to the store, but wouldn't take the g/f on the highway. Showed the g/f the Bonnie, and she can appreciate it, and was good at feigning interest, until I told her about the siisy bar. Then her ears perked up..."So I can lean back and not knock helmets with ya anymore?", "Yup" I said, now she can't wait to get on it. Sure, swapping seats/bar, may not be the fastest thing to do, but at least everyone's happy, and the fact that she will spend some time on it makes it easier for me to spend money on her...the bike that is.
Hurricame season? Ha! I laugh in the face of hurricanes. After riding 12 hours on the Versys through tropical storm Barry on my way to Daytona back in May, I laugh at rain the same way Lt Dan did during the shrimp boat scene in Forrest Gump.
So, hopefully the bike will be good to go for our trip to S Carolina next may. Crap, I forgot about luggage...Time to put together a x-mas for the girlfriend.

Congrats Hamr! My fiancee loves the back of my bonnie, and I am sure we would both be happier if I bought a sissy bar. I haven't because I want her to get her own. She has a license and likes to ride circles in a parking lot on my bonnie. She only gets the parking lot becauseshe laid down my last bike.
