Jan issue of Rider Magazine has good article about Thruxton Cup Series
Rider magazine devoted 6 pages in its most recent issue to the Thruxton Cup Series, focusing specifically on the author's experiences riding in the Series at MidOhio this past summer. The article is a good read, and is favorable to the Series and the Thruxton.

"Rider" is a US newstand or subscription publication, not to be confused with the 'official' Triumph publication.

Just got mine today, Bob. Good write up, and it happened at mid Ohio. Did you happen to see those races? I didn't go to Vintage Days this year.
Incidentally, Rider is a good motomag. Subscribed to it for years. If you're not familiar take a look at their web site. They archive their old issues there.

Monte - a bunch of us attended Vintage Motorcycle Days for several years in a row. Somehow, the weather forecasts since 2003 haven't been optimistic enough, so the group hasn't been since 2002, including 2007. Per the article, 2007 was really a wet one.
MidOhio is one beautiful racetrack, and when the weather is right, there's not a better motorcycle event in this part of the country. Racing, bike auctions, huge swap meet, a great mix of vintage bikes, it is a memorable event.
I was fortunate enough in 1991 to be able to participate in the Reggie Pridmore CLASS training for free. It was a BMW sales promotion. You could choose between an MSF course or Reggie's track day. I was able to ride nearly 100 miles on the track on my 1989 K100RS. I had never been to a track day, so I joined the slow group. Even so, I'd glance down at the speedo just before coming to the braking markers on the straight, and the old gal would be reading close to 125mph. We weren't racing, but it felt extreme to me. The big Japanese bikes with more experienced track riders had me checking to see if I'd run out of gas and stopped!
Lots of changes in the track since I attended my first sports car race there in 1972.

Lets get a bunch coming in from all over to watch the vintage races this year. Triumph is the featured marque, which used to mean anyone on a trumpet could do parade laps ontrack at lunchtime, which may not be racing, but is still pretty fun.
I am already supposed to go, and meet 2 of my old riding buddies that I have not seen in 20 years!
It would be fun to have a big turnout and hang for the weekend.
C'MON LETS!

I have been to VMD the last two years since I moved to Ohio. It's a fantastic show with just about every motorcycle made either racing or just parked somewhere. Since Triumph will be the featured marque next year, it should be all the better. It's already on my calendar.

I plan to be there as long as the weather forecast is halfway hopeful. Sounds wuzzy, I know, but I've 'given at the office' as far as MidOhio is concerned .... I've been attending car and bike races there (in sun and rain and occasionally spitting snow) for the past 35 years, so now I tend to make my decision the morning of .... since I live less than 100 miles from the track. The ride down Rt 95 to Rt 97 out of Wooster is much nicer than running the slab, BTW.
If weather is good on Fri morning early, I strap tent, sleeping bag, and air mattress on the rear rack, ride to the track, and camp in the area to the left of the main entrance, usually both Fri and Sat night. Leave for home on Sun usually around 1-2pm.
If the weather forecast is for rain, I wimp and stay home, at least for that day.
