Cool vibes

Well, I know this is going to sound pretty cheesy, but I am overwhelmed with the good nature of the people on this forum! It is a nice feeling knowing that there are good people out there, and alot has come through this site. And that is not a normal thing from a website now-a-days.

I recently helped out a guy by sending him a part at no cost to him, just because I wanted to help out a fellow rider. It turned out that he needed the part because he gave it away in the same fashion a while back and I was returning his good karma. That made me feel good about it, and would do it again. Now recently I had the same thing happen to me where Psasak helped me out and sent me a bracket, that I have been eyeballing but most likely wouldn't have been able to afford for awhile, out of the goodness of his heart free of charge. I cannot help myself to feel like this place does have cool vibes, and continue to be a better person by helping other! Good people, and thanks for making my day!

this forum (and many others) are a great place to meet like-minded folks. I love this place because I can talk (write) about the things that bore the living hell out of the people in my life...I mean my parents, friends, girls, etc can only hear so much about the bonnie...

I just sent my old speedo cable to a guy for postage, I didn't need it anymore and he did. They're expensive to buy and I didn't need mine so I gave it to him.

it's a good community, and you can meet great folks to ride with too!

I agree. Great forum, great folks. Here's one story... attempting to remove the anti-tamper plugs on the idle mixture screws, I managed to break my carb housing. Thankfully, a couple rat.netters had some stock carbs they were willing to part with, one local (thanks Sheldon!), or I would have been shelling out some big big bucks... money I didn't have at the time. Chances are I would have been bonnieless for quite a while. Instead, I was up and running at min cost, and great tips on doing the swap made the work a piece of cake.

I belong to three forums. One for each of my "passions" ... my Triumph, my Nikon, and my Mac... for any of these subjects there are a whole bunch of forums... you cruise, you sample and then gravitate to the ones that best suit your own personal set of sensibilities.

This is what I've found....
1) Avoid forums where oneupmanship is rampant... they are just p*ssing contests where the biggest egos want to hang out.
2) Avoid forums that are heavily populated by teenagers (or adults that act like teenagers). Overuse of the word "dude" and cultural references that go straight over your head are a good indicator. Squids are great... battered, deep fried, and served with a nice marinara sauce.
3) Avoid forums that are non, or under-moderated. A good moderator team is worth its weight in gold. Some see this as anti-free speech, I see it as allowing smooth communications and a quick check on anything inappropriate.
4) To me, there only one rule that needs to be followed... never say anything in a post that you wouldn't say to the person's face.

Community spirit is no longer dictated by geographical location. Welcome to the new millennium. Not to be too deep and meaningful about it, but it's stuff like this that will create the greatest social change. I'm talking to Triumph owners in Thailand, Nikon owners in France and Mac owners in South Africa... they're just these guys, y'know...
