It never rains in Southern California? Is this true.

I was drinking in a pub in Harrogate, Yorkshire UK last night and I got talking to a guy who was from America who said his name was called Glen Cambell and he reckoned that it never rained in Southern California. I did not believe him, is it true? or is he telling me porkies [Pork Pies = Lies, cockney Rhyming slang]

Not very often. We enjoy when it rains. I can not remember the last time it did. It is a desert that we built on.

It pours for weeks at times. But it's been very dry recently. Last year we has 3" all year, while out normal yearly amount is 15". So while it's been real dry recently, it does rain a good bit. Just not as much as most other places.

Thanks a lot, Scratch, now I've got that song stuck in my head. Ahhhhh!

I'll have to put my headphones on and play Jackson Browne's Late For the Sky to undo the damage. (I see you're a Jackson Browne fan. He can take me right back to California. Oceanside, man I miss it.)

That's absolutely true. (It only rains on the little people) I lived in SoCal all my life and it ain't rained once. I rode to work today in a Hawiian shirt and board shorts. It was so hot that I had a rum drink in my bar end gimbal.

Actually it was pretty cold and grey this morning but it warmed up nicely at the beach. I did ride to work (at the beach).
don't feel bad, the wind was up early and what little surf there blew out by 10. Water temp is down. swell outlook is bleek.
Lobster season is good this year and limiting out is easy.
Last winter Los Angeles got 3.25" (8.255cm) of rain
average is 16.5" (41.91cm)
Who the fek is Glen Cambell?

I hate that it never rains... Except when I want to ride my bike—which is everyday. So I guess I don't hate it. How many times has it rained this year? Once I think and it stopped by 12 noon.

In Australia we'd call that a drought. Thank goodness for the Hoover Dam. Eh?

correct...

Yeah without counting the torrential week long downpour of january 2005, it basically hasn't rained hardly at all since I moved here in 2003. Approx. one or two substantial rain days per year has been the deal. I remember once it poured like crazy on halloween....I think that was 05.

i guess i'm confirming your suspicions.....yea, it barely rains at all here!
