Worth the Wait
Well the 3 week wait to get my bike serviced finally rolled around. So the lucky thing spent the whole day being lovingly fettled, by a Triumph trained mechanic. & gee it's made a difference. I don't know if it'd slipped it's tuning since the kit went in, or if it's now going better than it ever has before. But it sure feels that way. I took it out on my tyre bedding run, to bed in yet another new rear, & on the quick run home, the engine was running so freely & willingly, I had to take it for a quick strop through my favourite set of twisties, before taking it home.
Now that the cyclone that was hanging around last week, has sucked all the moisture out of the air & dumped it on New Guinea. We're expecting balmy tropical weather for the next few days. So I'm loading up the topbox on the Scrambler, & pointing it towards Normanton on the Gulf of Carpenteria, for the weekend. I'll take my laptop & phone camera with me, so I'll post reports & pics, whenever I'm in a phone cell.

Old Scratcher, sounds like you are having too much fun.
Can you fly your mechanic to Texas to see if he can get my bike running as good as yours? I'm joking, but mine runs absolutely great when it decides that it will run. Sometimes though it does not want to.
What "kit" went in your bike?
Send the pics you take. We love seeing where others live.

Yes Atgatt, I am absolutely loving wringing every drop of fun out of my bike. & I make no apologies for my uncontained joy. Although I'm wondering if the lack of responses to this thread is indicataive of an underlying resentment from winter-bound NH members, to my good fortune. So I am sorry if I've gotten up a few nostrils with my bonhomie. & I will try to keep my enthusiasm down to a dull roar, for future posts.
I didn't make it to the Gulf, for a couple of reasons. 1. It's our election day today, & I wanted to vote in my own electorate (& not at some redneck booth in the middle of nowhere) & 2. I didn't have the fuel range to make it across the way I wanted to go. So I've bought a Norman Hyde L/R tank, which should be here in a week or two. & I'll try again then.
So here's a pic of my bike I took today on a ride up a mountain road behind Cairns. I hope it'll do for now.
P.S. The "kit" is a Thunderbike stage 1 performance kit, which has new cams, mufflers, AI removal, K&N air filter & carby re-jetting. The bike's also got Ikon progressive rate suspension, front & rear. & it goes like a cut cat.

gday scratcher
yes mate some good riding weather about in SEQ as well.
interested in your comment about tuning. your obviously rapped in it post service, just wondering how it 'felt' before the service. ive just had a pickup coil replaced under warranty after a mindnumbing 5 weeks waiting for parts, and now its as rough as guts, power back, it starts, has bad vibes, and feels like a tractor.
anyway, good to hear a decent dealer service story. frankly wouldnt pi ss on the SEQ ones if they were smoldering to death! big hairy ones the lot of em!

G'day Mic. I know those SEQ roads well, & there sure are some good ones. The Gold Coast & Sunshine Coast Hinterlands, the range roads connecting the Brisbane Valley to the Darling Downs, & the back roads of Nthn NSW. Magic riding country. Especially at this time of year.
Sorry to hear all your dealer's are sh*t down that way. I'd have thought a bit of competition would improve things. My dealer's the only one in town. So it's fortunate that he's a good one, & his mechanic's are quite competant too. My only beef with them, is the 3 week wait to get to see one. But that's the price of success, I suppose.
My bike was running OK before the service. But it wasn't as willing to get to its top speed as it used to be, & it was getting a bit buzzy at certain revs. But now, it propels me to maximum velocity, like I've got a rocket up my bum & without a single bad vibration too. So happiness truly is a well tuned bike. & I hope you get yours sorted soon.
Ride On

Sounds like you are having a blast. I'm not meteorologically challeneged, except that it just decided to rain like a cow peeing on a flat rock!! I'd start taking pictures of my rides except they're pretty crappy scenery-wise. Swamp and concrete jungle on crappy roads with no turns for the most part.

Scratch - something dropped on the back of your beautiful Scrambler; what da hell is that? Get a heavy broom out and kill it and then sweep it off.

mic, you have been complaining about that bike for a long time. Surely there has to be someone who can now tune it up since you got your pickup sensor.
Mine had the pickup sensor put in and it was tuned. It never ran better for the 800 miles since but decided to die and die again when I was far from home. Now Triumph is saying it is the igniter. So I trailered it home yesterday and will wait for the igniter to come in. After that I'm trading it in for a new bike. I'm leaving shortly to go look at the V-Strom, Bandit, Versys and others.
Maybe Old Scratcher's mechanic knows someone in your area to tune your bike.
Old S, if I were you with a tuned Scrambler with scenery and roads like that, I'd be jumping for joy too and riding as much as I can. Lately for me, the harder I try to ride my bike, my bike is unwilling to be ridden so I'm stuck in a car until this all gets worked out and I get a new bike.
It is refreshing to hear and see that people like you are having the time of your lives on your bikes. Bravo!
There was a bar in the Philippines along the beach I'd spend a lot of time at that had a lot of guys from your country just getting away from it all. We had a lot of fun even though I could only understand about half of what they said.

Are you serious? The Northern Hemisphere is a big place. I'm happy you're happy. But that didn't seem to be the case just a few short weeks ago. Maybe that has something to do with it.
