Full Battle Gear.

Well I wanted to thank some of the wise and witty people here. After reading some of your posts I have broke the old piggy bank open and ordered full assult gear. With some of the close calls I have had and reading about all of yours it was time. I have never riden in CE protection is it different. SO heres the Question. How many riders wear full gear when they ride even if its a short ride?

Extra Motorcycle: dya mean the one outside?
I tend to. However, this is usually as a result of the precautions I take before telling the wife that I'm off for a run on the bike - traffic hazards pale to insignificance by comparison.

Where's the front line?

Always an armored jacket (leather or textile) trousers, gloves, boots and a full face but keep a pair of kevlar jeans for the summer.

Bohn makes a protective shirt/jacket with CE armor and back protection that can be worn under leather jacket or other jacket that doesn't have CE armor. The armor in the Bohn shirt/jacket seems to stay in place better on shoulders and elbows than jackets with armor inserts.

I wear boots, jacket & gloves (& jeans of course) all the time. I have various jackets & jeans, to deal with all kinds of weather. But I think gravel rash can be more painful than a broken bone (it just heals quicker) & I'll wear anything that protects me from that.
As for full body armour. I do have some, but I usually only wear it if I know I'll be pushing the envelope, & that's more for the added confidence it gives me, than anything else. Although I'm sure that I'd be glad that I was wearing it if I had a tyre blow out at 200kph+ (perish the thought)
Those new airbag jackets, which were posted here a few weeks ago, look interesting. & I'll probably try one of those when they become available over here. It might give me the confidence to finally fit a 1150 kit to my Scrambler (Whoa! Lookout World!)

I live a fair bit away from my local village in any case but now I don't feel 'right' unless I wear the ATGATT. A couple of years ago I was just a jeans and black leather jacket guy but with gloves, and helmet. Helmet's have been compulsory since the 50's.

Summer and fine weather it's draggin jeans but on inclement weather I wear the weather-proof armoured pants.

You don't see too many guys here without the full gear except for a few Harleys, most wear some form of protection.

Same with seat belts in my car, it's been compulsory since the 70's here and it also doesn't feel right if I'm not belted up.

I laughed when my g/f belted up in her car just to re-position it for a car wash, it's instinctive, she hadn't realised she'd done it.

--------------
Ride on !

I wear full face helmet, leather jacket (Triumph Rivton it is soooo cool looking ) w/ CE protectors, back-protector, Draggin Jeans, or Cortech DSX Jeans both have w/ CE protectors, boots, gloves w/ knuckle-protectors. In the hot weather I wear either a Triumph textile, or a Vanson mesh jacket, both have CE protectors and back armor . I have had this old body for 68 years and I plan to keep it in one piece I already have given my sacrifice to the road rash god 30 years ago
