Yeah you got me! I stepped into that one! Utah is kinda unique, to say the least. I did find out though that we have two new Moto Guzzi dealers here. If that V7 is released in the states, I will be looking at them. Anybody heard anything about when it's going to be released and how much it will be? I'm sure it will be expensive.

Nice, as most Guzzis are. Can't wait to hear more about it! I still like the Griso & v11 best.

Ok, a few ideas from me.. first let me say I've owned 4 Guzzi's and loved them all in thier special ways.
I had a Sport 1100 carb version, many parts are interchangeable between Guzz's, they are king of the parts bin custom so I changed the rearsets with the Centaro, lowered them, raised the bars with heli bars and it was a great bike. My only problem was the throttle pull, it was too much. Later I could have had a injected bike Geez!
I also owned a SP1000 that I hung a sidecar on. I painted in Ferrari red, machined a Leman's 16" front wheel for the sidecar had the wheels powdered coat black and it looked like a 3 wheel ferrari. The complaints were the seat, so I had Sergents redue mine, great bike wish I still had it, but someone had to have it and had money.... darn.
I bought a new Cali Aluminum it is like all thier bikes a parts bin custom, shared many parts with the Jackal, the Cali tour, the Basso etc. The problem I had with this bike was Guzzi trying to update. The put hydrolic lifters and didn't put oil passages in the cam (some were recalled) they also, left thier tried and trued mulit plate clutch for a single one, gear shifts were horrible! Only one I owned that did that. Traded it in on a Thurxton.
I still have a CX100 (LeMan's II) it will be my winter project and maybe for sale this spring. I've been thinkin about the new Griso, but now the 750 gets my attention.
So here are my comments, First reliablity is amazing on these bikes, they were so over built to begin with. (they were tractor motors!) second, the poor finish was very prominent in the 70's especially the frames and such. Now seem to be very nicely done and from all I talk to seem to hold up. Electric's had a bad rep and some deserved, the switch gear left a lot to be desired! But the modern bikes have changed that. If you want to get a good over all of Guzzi's go to Guzzi Tech, they have a great web site and you can also see lots of 100,000 mile Guzzi's.
Lastly I agree with some had said, there should have been 2 versions of the new bike. 1) a red framed, lime green V7 sport model, 2) a ferrari red version with a tiny fairing over the head light, witha 8 valve motor or at least the big block. Now that would have gotten some people's attention.

Nice write up on Guzzi's in general. One of my riding buddies has been thru a bunch of them. I don't recall model numbers, but I remember one that had a green frame, low bars, long saddle, lot of black body parts. I rode it once, and was impressed with what a tight feeling the bike had overall. He also had a red and white 1000cc Guzzi with a color matched Hedingham sidecar that was a wonderful machine, too.
Based on his Guzzi experience, I don't think there's anything about a Goose that scares me.

A GREEN FRAMED GUZZI !?!?!?! (holy cow, I mean grail) that would be the 1000 S, very much sought after, probably in the top 3 in my opinion (my wife's first pick) I would put the red framed/lime green V7 Sport first (and I once herd of the hundred or so made there must be at least a 1000 or so left.... a joke on how much they are copied) I would put the LeMans I next and the 1000 S third that's just me. You very rarely see a 1000 S go up for sale. BTW, I met your friend with the side car, it was a beautiful rig, great workmanship. He was at a rally in west virgina, I think. Oh well, I sure miss mine..........but would settle for falling into a 1000S or a Jackal soon, I think I'd try and make a 1000S out of the Jackal.... Hmmmm

You definitely met my riding buddy if it was at the New Cumberland WVa rally. I rode over with him in 1999. More Guzzis than I'd ever seen in my lifetime. Lots of old iron. He took the sidehack, and I rode my 1991 R100GS. That little town turned out for the Guzzi parade like there was a presidential candidate involved. Banners welcoming Guzzi riders were hung over the main street. Tom said 'park the GS and ride in the sidecar'. What a hoot that was.
The Guzzi sidecar rig was sold a few years ago, but we still both ride Bonnie's together, and took a pair of them out West in 2006, from Ohio to Wyoming via New Mexico and Utah. Good trip.
If I ever want an older Guzzi, Tom is the guy I'll turn to for advice on which one to buy. He's owned a bunch of them.

Bob, I've had Guzzis for about 25 years, they get in your blood, the sound they produce is like a small block Chevy V8, handle well and are reliable as anything out there. That green framed Guzzi was a '91 1000S that I purchased used from a fellow in PA. This bike was positively the best Guzzi I ever owned - one of those that I should have kept forever. When I would punch the starter button it would positively leap to life almost before it could make its first revolution. The one I had, had the LeMans motor - 40mm Delortos and big valves and gobs of torque. The sidecar machine was an '83 SP in red & white equipped with a leading link fork, 16" wire wheel up front and a 15" auto radial tire in back, with a matching Hedingham SS sidecar which carried a 16" wire wheel. I had that rig up to 95 on the expressway before I backed off - I just had to pass that Porsche.
I don't have a digital photo of my old 1000S, but have tried to attach a couple of photos of my old sidecar outfit.
Don't have a Guzzi at the moment, but sure watch them with a lot of lust in my heart...one of these days I will have another...old or new, doesn't matter...
Tom
