This is a new one (1500 cruiser content)
Just when i thought i'd heard every possible rumor about this bike, today a dealer told me a new one. First of all, he said he's positive it's not a rumor that this bike exists, and that like has been said it will debut either in '09 or mid '08. He got this at the dealer meeting i presume. Anyways, i never heard this one yet....... it's going to be a "parallel forward slanted V twin". HUH???!!! So i asked what that meant and he said sorta like a moto guzzi with the heads off to each side, but also slanted forward !
Now, i seriously doubt this, and he even admitted to not being sure because i guess he just didn't understand what the rep or whoever was saying. But god, i hope it's not some bizarre configuration like that ! And how could it slant forward with the cylinders configured off to the side like a guzzi anyways ! Not possible, or at least no feasible ! In any case, i just thought i'd post about it so there would be absolutely no rumors about it left to tell. Thats the kitchen sink of 1500 cruiser rumors to be sure ! But at least it's the first time any dealer has not only admitted to knowing anything about it, but was sure that whatever it turns out to be, it does exist.

Wow
I sure hope they are wrong about the engine configuration. That's stone ugly.http://www.dinamoto.it/DINAMOTO/on-l...tors/twin.html

I can see the forward slanting part. The T160s and the Nortons had that.
If they have a shaft drive (which is rumoured) and the crank is longitudinal (like the R3) they could have a V Twin configuration internally but still have it look like a Parallel Twin on the outside.

Yes, but what he was saying is the cylinders are pointing out the left and right sides in a V configuration like a moto guzi, PLUS slanted forwards too ! A norton is just a parallel twin with a forward slant. In fact, thats exactly what i said to the guy when he said "slanted forwards"......i said "like a norton?". Thats when he explained the cylinders would be like a guzzi. I know he's just gotta be wrong because even if it's possible i cannot imagine in my wildest dreams triumph being stupid enough to do that and think it will be a good seller. I think it would flop in a huge way. In fact, i'm probably the one here who is most anxious for this bike, yet i'd pass that up no question.

The Brits have long had a fascination with time travelers. Perhaps Triumph have prevailed upon The Doctor to use his TARDIS to encase the factory in a non-Euclidian spacetime bubble, so that it will be possible for lines that are parallel to also intersect.
Otherwise, it will be very, very difficult to make a parallel V anything.
Now that they are free of the restrictions of conventional geometry, we can expect to see superconducting wiring looms based on the Möbius loop, so that neither batteries nor earth connections will be required any longer. There will be Klein Bottle gas tanks with no filler cap and nearly unlimited fuel capacity, because the inside is simultaneously the outside and vice-versa.
And to protect all this wonderful technology from prying eyes, access to different levels of the factory will be via Escher Stairs that can only be navigated by the most adept Oompa-Loompas, personally trained by the Dalai Lama hinself. In fact, this is one logical explanation for why MCN have never yet produced a spy photo of such a fantastic mill after all these months of its assumed existence.
The other possible explanation is that Triumph, now having access to near-infinite amounts of time, have begun developing engines via a combination of the Schrödinger's Cat experiment and the Shakespearean Monkeys concept. They seal a collection of raw materials and random pieces of assembly line machinery into a box and send it far, far back into history, knowing that there's a tiny but non-zero chance that, eventually, a workable engine design will result. Unfortunately, you can never know the exact state of a Schrödinger wave function until you terminate the experiment. Will it coalesce into a marketable product at that instant, or a heap of scrap, or a 5 billion year old dead cat? Right now, we're all waiting for Triumph to open the box and see.
The downside to an engine designed by Schrödinger probabilities is that it can only be serviced by quantum mechanics.
Long live the Parallel V !
