Hope my policy covers Crocs!
It looks like there's a huge wet season coming up. If the many croc sightings are anything to go by (the higher they come out of the swamps to lay their eggs, the bigger the wet: old aborigine saying). & we're not talikng about remote wilderness here. They're pouring out of Cairns Inlet & up the many concrete culverts that drain much of this city (reclaimed swamp). I saw a 6 footer basking in a drain, walking to the supermarket! & an 8 footer was just caught over in the industrial area. One woman hit a 6 footer in her car a couple of weeks ago. Killed the croc & seriously damaged the car. Makes me think I should drag the old insurance policy out, & see if the Scram's covered for croc damage. I tell ya's! The excitement never stops, up here in the tropics. Got any unusual risks sround your way?

If I were you I would start practicing curb jumping in preparation for the inevitable "Croc jumping" episode to come. Hey, it's a Scrambler, isn't it?

I can believe that OS, I have a friend living in Yorkys Knob and I went fishing with him a little further north of Cairns. We parked near a sign on the beach warning us about crocs and I thought it was just to excite the tourists.
We caught some nice fish and walking back we saw these very large croc crawling marks, fresh, that weren't there when we first passed.
We heard afterwards that a local resident had disappeared in the same area the day before !
I prefer my crocs as steaks, where I used to eat them in Papua New Guinea, rather than the other way around.

Ride on !

In Norway we have a few hazards, such as:
Moose
Reindeer:
And skiers:
Although it is uncommon to meet skiers when out riding a motorcycle.

Let's see ... no crocs, thank goodness. But we have lots of ...
- cell phone drivers
- just plainly bad drivers
- deer
- wild turkey
- more deer, and
- more deer
- turkey buzzards
- other assorted wildlife
Deer are an ever-present road hazard. Wild turkey flocks are few and far between, but increasingly more evident in the National Park I ride through nearly every day. And I have had one or more of them fly directly in front of me.
Turkey buzzards. Nearly slipped my mind. This past summer, I encountered them several time as I came around a curve. There it (they) are, dining on road kill. And as soon as they see you, up they go, usually flapping like crazy to get out of your way. Couple of close encounters with them this year.
No crocs. Not this far north. The guys from further south can address the alligator issue.

Yep just add Gators, Sandhill Cranes, blue haired drivers and your in west central Florida. Buzzards are the worse. They winter down here in mass (along with blue haired drivers). Seen a few close calls with fellow riders. Always on the brakes when I see them on the side of the road. Never know when they will fly or run across the road, (hmm, just like blue hairs). Struck a buzzard (not a blue hair) last year in my truck, lucky was just a glancing blow. About came in the open passenger side window, wife was not happy.

road hazards
RT, you may have been very lucky. In the Miata net, they have been talking about "Buzzard Bombs" aparently when frightned, they throw up as they take off. a Definate Hazzzard for open convetables and motorcycles.
