larger front tire ???

I want to put a 110/90-19 on the front. Has anyone used this size? It should fit, but Im worried about the fender bolt clearance. Please let me know if any of you have tried this.

If it's the metzler

It will work ok, the steering will slow down a noticeable amount though. Check out the pierelli sport demons, by far better than the bt-45s, and seem to be a little grippyer than the lazer techs. just as a bonus they come in the stock size.

yes everthing that uzidzit said is obviousely correct in my veiw, i personally think it would be the wrong move to go to a wider tyre, but a good moove to go to pierelli sports demons ..

I want to go taller to help correct a 7mph speedo error. I am also putting a taller one on the back to keep the front/rear ride height rato the same

just a casual observation, so dont get pissed...but you'll change wheels and tires out rather than subtract 7 from your speedo reading?
even having the speedo recalibrated would probably be cheaper and easier, and would not upset the handling of the bike

I am running a 110/90-19 in the front, and the stock bolts were to close for my liking. I replaced them with button head. I am installing gaters today, if you want a picture of the bolts and clearance. I when to the 110/90-19 in front to better match the 180/55-17 in the rear. now both are radials.

Just theorizing ........

I've played with rear tire sizes on the T100, and am currently running the 150/17 GT501 on the rear. Running std size 501 on the front. This combo feels right for me, though I'd go back to stock 130 on the rear if I wanted quicker handling.

I have never experimented with changing front tire size, but I'm thinking a small change, like going to the 110, would have a much greater effect on handling.

I thinking along the same line as Geoff .... could a speedo shop recalibrate the speedo to make it more accurate? If I recall, the needle is moved by a rotating magnet that works against a 'watchlike' flat coiled spring. Maybe a slightly stronger spring in the speedo would restrain the speedo reading ? I don't know exactly how they do this, but I'd have to think it's be a lot like in the old days when we took a watch in for adjustment when it ran slow or fast.

Good luck however you approach it.

Ive tried to get inside the speedo, and the chrome ring on the top is crimped on. I would destroy it and the 7mph error isnt worth tearing the speedo apart. Im going 62 indicated, but the GPS says 55. So a larger front will spin slower and show a lower idicated speed. It wont totally correct it, but it will be better. The taller rear should ballance out the handling. I should receive the tires tomorrow, and after I spoon them on and get them ballanced, I will report on the ride. I will have to break them in before I get too nuts though. I have some stainless lowhead bolts to install, so clearance shouldnt be a problem. We'll all find out soon enough.
