10,000 miles on a Scrambler 2 up
Just got back from two months in Wyoming and ran into this couple from MA on a Scrambler. These folks, Christy and Tom didn't have any rain gear or leather, touring in tennis shoes!!!!! I give them the highest marks for going on this adventure. They had just replaced the rear tire in Rapid City and were about 4K miles into the trip. Headed to the west coast and drive south along the coast before heading back east. The day after they headed out of Ten Sleep canyon WY we got 4 inches of snow in a few hours, they got out just in time!!!

Don't have the hang of uploading pics with the new system, been gone a while obviously!
Only mishap they told us about was on some dirt road with all the weight so far back they wheelied into a low speed crash but nothing damaged. I asked them to post a trip report on this site when they could.
If you see these forlks on the road offer them dinner!

hope they had a safe and grand time!
As I'm in NH, they have a standing offer for dinner when they get back to MA! They can pay with their stories.

Can't be true - look at how clean that bike is!
Just kidding. Great endurance couple. My hat off to them.

I'm jealous. I ride my chair at work more than my bike.

Looks like they've got the stock seat too.My nether regions scream in sympathy!
Amazing how wimpy we have become in this age of Gold Wings, and Road Glides. 40 years ago,an 865cc machine that runs as relatively smooth as the Scrambler would have been touted as the ultimate touring bike, regardless of the exhaust pipe configuration.
Christy and Tom,if you come through Phoenix,PM me here.Dinner, and drinks on me.

Cheers!
Bruce

These bikes rock! What won't they do? Great around town, wonderful on the two lane twisties, and they come with enough 'bike' to take them on tour.
This couple is undoubtedly having the time of their lives, and will remember this trip on the 'little' Scrambler as one of their motorcycling highights, regardless of the number of larger touring bikes they may own in the future.
Best wishes to them on this and future tours.
Bob

You are right Ohiorider the Scrambler is a great all around bike and I like hearing stories about people taking a simple bike on a long trip with no windscreen, gps, heated grips or a on board coffee machine just riders and a bike!
More like the old days when any bike would do. I used to tour on a 1974 Trident and despite the breakdowns those were my favorite miles on a bike.
I hope we hear more from this couple.

I totally agree, ride what you enjoy, if it is a Gold Wing more power to you but not neccessary. I have an ST1100 in my garage I scored at a deal, been sitting up for YEARS so the fuel tank, in tank pump, sending unit etc were gunked. I figured I could fix it and resell it come spring and make some coin, ride it between. I just cannot see myself enjoying it but am anxious to see. It does look good in the garage.
This guy Tom was saying that everywhere he went he ran into folks that loved the bike. Somewhere they got invited to a family reunion for dinner. You meet the coolest folks on a Triumph! I mean they did meet me!

I rode past that couple about a month (or 2, end of July I think) ago! Its the only scrambler I've yet to see on the rode. Was in Western MA on my way home from a LONG day ride. I was pulling out of a gas station on the T100 and saw them go by. Hard to forget 2 up on a red and white with a huge pack... I was stoked to see another Bonnie and tempted to go after them, but a weary back kept me heading home.
