Own a scooter?
So as a scooterist, I've been surprised to notice how many Bonneville owners are also scooterists. Considering the motorcycle world's general disdain for scooters, I'm curious that Triumph Twins seem to attract a crowd who don't have issues with scooters. Most significantly, most of the people here who ride scoots seem to be riding old-school metal shifter scoots, not the modern plastic automatic variety. So I'm putting up a little poll. Own a scooter? Ever own a scooter? Hate scooters? I'm just curious...

I have lots of issues with my scooter in particular; that's one reason I bought something with a warranty. Keeps me out of the garage! I don't have time to deal with the problems I get with a vespa.

I have Scooter Ida's
I own a Honda Helix------Old School
A Yamaha Vino 125 ------New School
I enjoy both my scooters.
Florida is perfect for Scooters.
I don't worry about getting Scooter jacked, I carry a 2 inch 357 mag in the convenient glove box.

I would consider one, if I worked within a couple miles to work. But then again, if I lived that close I would consider a bicycle more, to get rid of some of this weight I don't need.

it's not that big a deal to commute on a scooter. I did 20+ miles on the freeway/HOV for years.

My 82 year old father in law, who rode all over the US in his younger days on his many BMW bikes and a 78 Gold Wing, now rides an 07 Honda Helix. He's enjoys blasting along on I95 and the Atlantic City Expressway at 75 mph. He gets 60 mpg, loves the light weight of the scoot and can still enjoy two wheeled fun and freedom at his age. He reports that loads of people stop him with questions about his scoot.
I had an Aprilia Scarabeo 500cc scoot that I sold after a year. Didn't like the design of the upper section of the fairing that was connected to the handlebars. Gusty blasts of wind from the sides made it feel very unstable. I did find, though, that I could see more on country roads when I didn't have to attend to shifting.
