Fedex burned my seat! Literally!
Well, I recently sold and shipped a Triumph Solo seat to someone in Texas. I shipped it Fedex and a few days later I got an email from them and checked the tracking status and saw when it arrived in Texas that they marked it as damaged in transit. So I filed a claim and they sent it back to me and I received it today, without a box, and the front part of the leather had been burned! So I'm waiting on a refund since it was insured. But the pan seems to be fine and only the top part of the front of the foam is burned so I'm thinking that it may be a good one to thin down the part you sit on and cafe it out. Any ideas?

PM Rodburner...he be the seat man as well as the pipe man. He's done more seats than most of us have seen. He can give you tips on where to get the stuff needed and how to do it yourself.

USPS Priority Mail
Sorry to hear about the leather seat Bassman. I always use the US postal service to ship stuff out. If it's shipping within the US, Priority mail is the way to go. Not only is it cheaper, it always gets to where it's going in just a matter of days (with no flames involved). So now I thinking it's more dependable too. I've shipped 3 seats myself, and the most it cost me using Priority mail was $14. I've also shipped a couple of items overseas and US parcel post was by far the cheapest method.

Steve,
Now, if you were from Texas, I would expect to see some bovine hide (hair and all) covering those side covers in one of your pics.

yeah, but who wants to wait at the freakin post office? Man I hate that place!
I go to the UPS store, in and out in 5 minutes tops.

I guess that depends on where you live. Small town living has some real advantages. I'm in and out of our (one and only) post office in 5 to 10 minutes tops. The morons at the UPS store would take every bit as long. AND I'd end up paying three times as much. Man I hate big cities!

I've found items usually over 2 pounds to be cheaper thru Fedex or UPS. This only cost about $9 to ship from GA to TX. Plus that included insurance, thankfully! One damaged item out of many sent isn't too bad. These things happen.
If you had my mailman you would think differently. I get more of my neighbors mail than my own! I've had two checks that never arrived to me but were never cashed. I believe they're on par with the other shippers around here.
