Street Twin with Scrambler Tires

Ok, its not gonna be a scrambler, and it would admittedly be a somewhat poser look, but what do people think about putting tires similar to what you'd run on a scrambler on the Street Twin and calling it good?

I don't think that the scrambler inspired option group is going to change the ground clearance much if any. I'm not looking for an "off road" bike but one that I could feel comfortable on dirt roads/cow pastures etc. And I think that it would look pretty damn cool too.

Thinking of this since it doesn't appear that there's going to be a 900 Scrambler released this model year.

I have a Scrambler and can tell you the Stock tires are terrible on the road so I went with a 60-40 tire (avon Distanzia, there are plenty of others though) your wheels are smaller (the front is 18, mine in 19) and your bike is really short, I would be weary taking something that short "Off Road", my Scrambler has enough troubles handling anything more than dirt roads and its over 3" higher than yours and the exhausts up high.

had a look on Metzeler and Bridgestone websites and they just don't do dual sport fronts in 100/90 18 or 110/80 18.

I'd go for something like Bridgestone T30 front 110/80R18 and T30 rear 150/70R17, or if you want something chunkier A40 rear 150/70R17, but still with the T30 front.

I put 110/80 section in there as that increases the choice to include radials and gives virtually the same diameter.

BTW I have a Tiger800 and this is common practice on Tiger800's (but with a 19" front wheel).

Last season I had Conti TKC80s on my Street Triple. I was actually surprised how well they behaved on pavement, and of course they were great off road (yep, I took the striple off road on them a few times).
The rear is bald now, after 7-8k miles on them, so I am reverting to supercorsa, but only because I like changing around- I'd go back to the TKC80s without hesitation.

I suspect one could argue yours would be a less "dramatic" tire change.

I would not do it. I've had two Scramblers and I always junked the stock knobby tires (noises, vibration, fear of riding in the rain on them) and replaced with stock Bonneville T100 Metzelers or Avon Roadrunners. True road tires made the Scrambler so much safer, smooth and pleasant to ride.

do you have a Stwin slowandpatchy? ('cos this is a Stwin thread on the air cooled board!)

I have dual sport rear and sport touring on the front of my bonnie Newchurch which works for me. The Stwin has a similar profile, front spec (110/80R18) has good sport touring choice and rear has sport touring and dual sport choices.

eg. in Metzelers you could go for front Z8 interact, rear Tourance Next, or the equivalent mix in the make of your choice.

I do have a street twin, didn't realize this was in the wrong place bc I found it in a search lol..
I would love to get an 80/20 because the majority of my riding is on road but knowing I can take some back roads would be nice.. I tried it on the stock pirelli tires and sugar sand was not fun at all
