America LT

While out and about Saturday, I came across a big motorcycle dealer that recently added triumph to it's sales line. While looking at their bikes I couldn't help but notice their prices were considerably lower there than dealers in my area. We were about 100 mls from home. They had a new 2014 America LT for $7900. Pretty good price I thought. Then the sales guy said he would take another grand off. About 15 mins later the sales manager said if I take the bike today he would let it go for $5995! To me that's a deal you just don't run across every day. I didn't take it because I wasn't prepared to make a purchase at that time. He said he would hold the price for a couple of days. I'm still thinking about it. Is it normal to find awesome deals when you venture out like that? If nothing else I may have found a new dealer to do business with.

I could easily trade in and get it but I would miss my Bonneville terribly. The reason I was looking at the America is for two up with the wife. She really likes it. But to me a cruiser would be so boring in town and for my work commute. I think we all know how this goes: trade the bike so we can ride together and then she doesn't want to ride anymore. That would not make me too happy. Yes it's happened before. But wow what a deal though. Used kbb on it is over $7K. Sometimes I should just not be looking at things haha

I thought that when I bought my America so that my lady would come along. I was so wrong, it is a great motorcycle, fun beating around town solo and is never boring. It's hard some days picking between it and my Bonneville.

overhead is lower outside urban areas so that may be part of it but likely most is driven by inventory costs. It costs a dealer to keep a bike on the floor for extended periods of time. A 2014 is pushing 3 yrs as of next season so they just may have decided to cut their losses. Also, the cruiser lines for Triumph don't tend to move as fast, you may have been the first to give it a hard look in a while too. 'Nice bike tho, 'sounds like a killer deal if they then don't soak you with fees.

TNA is clearing out warehouse inventory and giving the dealer free flooring for the year and promotional invoice pricing to take them more than likely. Nothing new for TNA in this maneuver. Bet they report them as retails rather than wholesales though.

If you want an America LT, Go buy that bike!

I've been very lucky with a number of purchases (Honda, Suzuki and Triumph). One was a killer low price on the new bike and two were stupid good trade-in deals. In each case the dealer had decided they'd had it long enough and just wanted to get the bike out the door and make a great deal. You can't pass them up when they appear.
