Wesley,
Sorry to hear about your accident, and the streak of bad luck you seem to be having. They say "two outta three ain't bad". But two (close calls) outta three (years) ain't good, in this case.
Whether to quit or not is your call... with a great deal of influence from your family and friends (IE: Mrs. MaxH). It's gonna take more time and some serious soul searching to reach that decision. I wish you better luck in the future.

Sorry about your accident,
+1 on what Road_Dog says. IMHO I say quit on the 12th of never or when the money runs out. If thrill isn't gone.....give it hell and take another pill.

Sure glad you came out as good as you did, considering.
Had an idiot rear end me and I gave it to an attorney to settle. Insurance companies are real pros in seeing you don't get justice so don't be shocked.
I ride more than the average and experience and see a lot. I'm not going to stop riding but work hard in training myself to be safer each day.
It's very likely I'm the most paranoid rider out there, which is fine with me.
Again, sure glad you are "ok" to at least rebuild your dream bike if you so choose.

I agree with Whoa -- if it is just a hobby. Problem is that you can't possibly be thinking straight now, being still banged up, bummed out and on pills. Take it slow. Heal. Let the lawyer work out the agreement on what to settle for. And I assume that your lawyer is a real SOB, because you don't want one who isn't. Then, after the healing and AFTER you are off the meds, think it through and talk it over with the family.
When I ended up in the trauma center for 3 days after my losing battle with the deer - well, I did kill the deer, but it killed my Tbird - I chucked the pain killers as soon as I was out of the hospital; talked it out with Sue and bought another bike in three weeks; and was riding it in four, three months before the docs said I could. But riding has been a lifelong PASSION for me, and if it were anything less, I would have chucked it and gone back to golf, or some other less potentially risky endeavor. But I decided that, when my time comes, I'd rather it be on a bike than anywhere else. That isn't rational. But it tells me how important riding is to me.
I could have bought the Tbird back but it was too painful to even contemplate trying to put her back together. And I was particularly concerned about the fact that the bike tumbled several times and may have had frame damage. Too big an effort. Funny how it worked out. If the Tbird had never been totalled I would never have discovered that I would come to like the Bonnie better. Who knew?
Get better, Max, and go with what makes you happy.

Buy a Hummer and a Harley on a trailer-put Railroad ties on the vehicles for bumpers. Now you are ready! Also get a.357 Smith and Wesson in a shoulder holster as you are entitled to a Road rage "Get out of Jail Free card". Sick em.

I was front ended in Sept 06 and my 03 America was my love... I was more disraught about the state of the bike than worrying about the pains in my chest (it was serious bruising on the sternum, but as an asthmatic,.....)
I couldn't see her go, so as someone else posted for you to try, I was fortunate and bought the 'scrap' and she's now back on the road. I also got a payout and scraped enough together on top to get a new one. My bike is my only transport you see... So 2 Americas......just greedy.
Get out there again. Buy a used one and see how you feel. If you try and can't, then at least you've tried. If you don't try you will always wonder.

I don't know how superstitious you are , in fact I don't even know you, however, I had a kid try to pass me over a bridge last night whereas on the other side it forks left or right he was bound determined to pass me but was unsuccessful I promptly gave him the high sign. ..(I'm not going to give you a wreckalog).....As long as your O.K. with riding again and only you can make that decision between the ears, I'd take his insurance for everything it's got. Everything. This way justice can be served. He will undoubtedly end up on high risk insurance and might have to think twice when he is behind the wheel about paying attention to his surroundings or it will come out of his pocket and or lose his license. When you get better physically , mentally (apprehension of riding) Time to go Shopping K-mart shoppers.

Get well soon
Unless you build choppers get a new bike.
The day you worry about it -walk away-no one will think any the less about you other than you may have more brains than some of us.
I'm convinced at 65 and several "bad ones" that you have to have a fighter pilot mentality on a scoot, otherwise you lose the "edge".
Cheers mate, from Downunder.
