Midwest rain riders?

so… anybody in the Great lakes area (northern IN here) do much riding this past week?? I don't like the wet much… drove to work 5 days in a row.
saw the sun briefly before it set, looks like we have a few precipitation free days this weekend and early next week to look forward to. enjoy

Took the moto safety course and skills test to get properly licensed - twelve hours in pouring rain over two days.

Hope you had rain gear of some kind. But on the positive side I'm sure you're bike skills are a touch sharper since the braking needs more finesse in the wet.

I managed one ride. It wasn't raining when I left for work and the chance of showers was about 50%. Needless to say I got quite wet on my way home from work that day since I didn't pack my rain suite.

I don't mind riding in the rain but it's the cleaning up of the bike that I don't care for.

I took advantage of the deluge to test out my FieldSheer touring gear and Avon Storms on the Daytona. Tires=A+++. Gear=C. Touring suit is great put gloves were saturated. Tires were unreal, allowing 80= mph with no real issues. I got caught on the Bonnie in the last round of flooding rain last Thursday and got good and wet, but the bike do ok even with the tired Bridgestone stock tires on it. I don't mind rain riding this time of year as the water is not the Arctic ice water we get in October.

no riding last week, riding in the rain is not so bad, it is the lighting and high winds that suck.
Nice sunny weekend made up for it with miles of aimless riding, just enjoyed the countryisde. 2 mores days of predicted sunshine and my bike is in the parking lot just begging for a half day off work (hopefully)

Hey guys here is a tip I picked up this spring. Put a pair of rubber(latex) gloves under your riding gloves, your hands stay dry and warm.

I tried the nitrile gloves, my Triumph gloves didn't slide over them very well.

Yep - brought out my rain gear and it worked like a charm. First day I wore some standard full fingered gloves and got all "pruny" within an hour - but the next day I stopped at REI and picked up some gloves from the kayaking section. Those kept me dry!

You're right on the sharp riding - doing those low speed maneuvers for the test was certainly more difficult on wet pavement, so the practice was well worth it.

Did get out and put a dry couple hundred miles on Saturday though, up through Stillwater and north a ways and back down on the Wisconi side of the river - beautiful country. Back to rain here in Minneapolis today...

looks like to spoke too soon. the bike is now sitting out in the heavy rain while I am inside (at work) listening to the thunder. Should be a interesting ride home as the rain gear is safely in my garage.

I ride in rain or shine. Just be careful about leaning into corners, stop and start more slowly. Try to dry off the shiny bits if it's sitting in the rain. Otherwise, enjoy! Remember, England is really freaking wet, and these are made there. They'll feel right at home in the rain.

I did the same thing, road in since the weather looked good and it's now raining. It looks at least like it's clearing up so the ride home hopefully should be dry.
