I lost one of my best friends this morning... Pepper was my Border Collie/Fox Terrier mix that I got from a Buddy when she was a tiny pup. She woulda turned 13 yrs old this October. My wife and I had just been discussing if this was gonna be the weekend we put her down. So it actually came as a relief, in a way.

Nikki is my other best friend... an Australian Shepard/Golden Revriever mix we adopted from the animal shelter. The bad part is Nikki will miss Pepper even more than I will. The really bad part is that she's actually 6 months older than Pepper. So I'll be losing her too in the not too distant future.

Sorry about your loss man. I feel your pain. I've lost a couple of Shelties within a year of eachother. They really are best friends.

It's tough RD. Lost my pal in 1990 after 10 years, a shepard/collie mix. Never could replace him. However, my wife got a Boston Terrier who's 13 now and completely blind therefore completely dependent on us and his 2 cats. Somewhere in 13 years he kinda grew on me. This as time goes by nonsense we all deal with has its downside occassionally. Still its worth it.

Thanks fellas... I'm attending a training class in Austin today. When I get home I'll try and post a pic. But first I'll have to take her to my in-laws ranch for a proper burial.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss! The lump in my throat left about a week after I had to put down our border collie, Cody. She was 16 years old and she suffered a stroke. I held her as she drifted off to sleep, it was a very sad day my friend.
