Hello to one and all
Hello to all, my name is Owen Murphy, I live in New Orleans and I'm one of the new users of the site. This is an amazing place, one of the most active and dynamic I've ever visited or particpated in. Information from this site helped me make the decision that the '02 Bonneville I was contemplating was the right choice. Thanks to everyone! I have also discovered the etiquette that is necessary for this site, and that in itself is a learning experience. Apparently introductions are required for acceptance-lesson #1: identify yourself and have something in your profile. People are suspicious of those who don't. Makes sense-lots of tribes out there and how do you know if someone is friendly or not?
This group reminds me of a professional sports team-there's gonna be some trash talking, ass kicking, and gentle words of advice from senior members while they get our rookie butts into the game plan. You can't ride with the big boys if you can't handle the rough stuff.
I bought my bike 2 months ago from an older guy(73 yrs), who lives in what's left of the Miss. Gulf Coast, who bought it as his 1st bike 3 years ago! But, he was riding with a HD group and he decided to try and fit in rather than be the object of all the attention than his beautiful Bonneville was getting so he bought himself a Harley. He admitted to me when I bought it, that he thought it was the Triumph was the better bike, but his allegiance to his buds was stronger.
So, now I have my dream machine. By coincidence, a Triumph dealership opened in New Orleans about 3 weeks before my purchase and they are super friendly; deciding it was worth the risk to start up a new motorcycle business in a recovering city. I encourage everyone to visit us, we are rebuilding and the spirit and good times are getting stronger everyday. If anyone needs to be reminded about how a community takes care of its own first, you need look no further than N.O.
Most of the bikes here are Japanese crotch rockets, the rest a mix of old and not so old Eurpoean motorcycles. My silver and red Bonneville with it's matching Corbin Smuggler are a real standout so I'm always getting into those long winded casual raps with people and getting the nod from people I pass, but the best pleasure is just getting on it and going for a ride. Once again, thanks to everyone for making this such a great site.

Welcome! This website has certainly made Triumph ownership a special thing for me, too. There's a wealth of experience here, and the members don't mind responding, even though your question has already been asked before, maybe several time.
Enjoy that Bonnie!
Bob

Welcome.
As I found out everybody keeps a friendly attitude, even in disagreement.

Welcome also from the top of the tier. Please keep participating and don't be put off if the kids get rambunctious once in a while. And keep us informed of the progress in New Orleans as it rebuilds. I'm sure a lot of people here could tell great stories about thier visits to NO.

Welcome and congrats on an excellent choice! I also have a 2002 red&silver Bonnie. Looking forward to hearing and seeing more. I wasn't aware of etiquette here. Heck I can't even spell it right without copy/paste. You are right about the group here, good people, young and old united by one thing and that one thing is enough. You can even post your mug and see some of ours if you can dig up the old thread!
