I still say the new ones will be labeled 2017's and the 2016 classics will be a short run until the new ones are in full production. They do this all the time with new autos. Anything produced after January 1 2016 can be labeled a 2017.

Latest issue of CYCLE WORLD has pics and words about two new 2016 Thruxtons, 1200cc's, dual discs, liquid cooled, ABS, traction control, 3 rider modes, etc. Available in standard "Thruxton' and sportier equipped Thruxton R ... may have to trade the V7R for one of these......

"Something big is coming..."

So don't hate me for not sharing photos but a friend is just at the pre event and sent me 10 pictures. You guys are gonna fall of your seats.

I can't share any pictures but i'll try and share whatever info I can tell from the pictures.

New thruxton-R (called the SMC Thruxton)

1200 cc. Looks just like the beckham bike but ohlins rear shocks. Clip on handle bar. Chrome retro gauges. Key just below the gauges (like the triumph thunderbird sport . Flatter gauges in white. Zard exhaust already available for it. And here's the best part. All LED lights. And a frond fairing like the Ducati Paul smart. USD FORKS. Colors so far a baby blue/white and a steel grey. Leather with metal strap going on top of the tank (like the MG v7 racer) Monza gas cap) round retro bar ends like rizoma makes. (I'll probably by this one)

Street tracker:
Regular forks, regular suspension. Looks like a cheaper version of the beckham bike. Tank looks like the Ducati scrambler. Single gauge. Low tracker bar. Led blinkers. Something very similar to a Lucas tail light. Higher risers, top riser is one piece. Mag wheels (very thin mags - not so pretty) same headlight bracket but larger like the beckham bike. Same mirrors as above but Mickey Mouse like on the bar. Seat looks like the BC slammer seat. The rear fender looks same style as street triple but broader.

Here's the surprise:
A brand new speed triple. Can't tell much from the foto. Fly screen looks sharper and shorter. Lights look a little different. Bike looks way more aggressive like the Ducati street fighter.

I'm told all the bikes are loaded with new electronics and my friend is just in awe at the moment. To me it looks like the thruxton-R is gonna be their top priced bike not counting the older machines obviously. Looks like it's gonna give the R nine T a run for its money.

You've got me on pins and needles now... only 1 more day until the reveal. SMC Thruxton sounds truly lust-worthy.

nip picking, but front fender brackets are weird looking, like it shouldnt be there.
Seriously. That would be the first thing to go. I'm excited about the performance enhancements, but I feel like nearly every previous twin owner will be on a mission to modify & take off all the modern looking out of place pieces, of which there are many.

Thanks for the links and pics gentlemen!!! Triumph owes them to this forum anyhow!

I have a few styling gripes, but the biggest is NO TANK BADGE? Dang. I guess at this point it's too early as I haven't seen the whole shebang yet....but the radiator is not bad at all.

I did hear that FULL SPECS will be released tomorrow as well-so the weight debate will be put to rest.
