Has anyone actually experienced motorcycle damage that a bash/skid plate would have prevented? It's one of those modifications that doesn't excite me very much, but might be a good idea anyway. Or maybe not.
Had damage to right frame tube (at the bend) when I tagged an oddly shaped parking lot wheel stop.
Cutting through lot to avoid traffic, late at night, and WHAM.
Didn't pay attention to it (at the time), but the crash plate would have prevented most of it (had it been on.)
I like mine, it's pitted and banged up now that it has 20,000 miles on it, gets filthy.... But it's a large piece protecting the underbody of the motor..
Mine after a year was full of pits and small scratches that would have otherwise been on the powdercoated frame. It's discreet and well worth having IMO
I recently killed my oil filter simply pulling back on to the pavement on a rainy day when I sank into the mud on the side of the road . It is next on my farkle list !
1 of my problems with the Trumpet brand plate is that it does not Cover the oil filter, I do not know why they stopped short of this except I did use a Amsoil filter on this bike a few times and it was longer and would have not worked with the plate if it had been longer, this would have caused all the "I want a aftermarket oil filters to save $3 a year " types bitch and moan but I cannot imagine Trumpet caring about that.
Anyone know if the fit issues with the R&G skid plate were solved ?
