First, besides cosmetically, the bonnie + thrux have the same basic motor, right? Thrux having a slight larger bore and hotter cams. Any other further comparrisons on this subject would be nice.

Looking at the specs, the bird and thrux have about the same output (give or take). I couldn't find a spec on the compression and bore + stroke of the bird (let me know if you do). But for those of you who have ridden both, give me the differences. All of them. From performance to asthetics to how well one fits better in your garage or whatever. The weight difference is somewhere around 35 lbs (?) but does the thrux feel more nimble?

I guess Im looking for a more classic bike. Simple, straight forward, 2 cyl 2 carbs, AIR COOLED.

the 790 motor has hotter cams than the thruxton or bonnie w/ the 865.

I've never ridden a triple, but from your description a bonnie or thrux sounds like just what you're after.

Good question! I think it means they're designed to give more HP at higher RPM's?? I know the 790's love to rev and feel pretty flat at low RPM's. The 865 feels stronger off the bottom but no different above 4k IMO.

What he means is the cam profile/timing is different. The 790 cam's have alot of overlap, which makes them a little flat on the lower end..( when compared to a motor with almost no overlap )...yet on the upper end of the rpm range it pull's harder..( than down low..ie: comparing the 790 to itself )

I have 790 and advanced the exhaust cam 1 tooth to lose some of the overlap and make the bike pull a little harder down low...it give's you a end resulting overlap inbetween the stock 790 and the stock 865 setups.
