I've had 2 major things going on lately:

-rebuilding my bike
-breaking up with my girlfriend

Both are going well. Things were shaky with both. The bike broke the first time I ran it after the 904, and I had personal issues with my girlfriend that I posted about.

The bike is running better than ever, and absolutely SCREAMS at 6000 rpms +. The sound at 8000 rpms both at full throttle and full decel is incredible through the bubs. Violent, howling, menacing, and almost scary. Furry creatures, pedestrians, cell-phoning cagers, and the general populace run for cover when the bike is at full-tilt. I think the combination of the high-comp wiseco kit, plus the big valves, headwork, and Bub exhaust all contribute to the awfully intoxicating evil sound of my bike now. I can't wait to throw some Mikuni flat-slides on it to get the full benefit of all the engine work. First and second gear wheelies are just a roll-on away. If anyone has any doubts about the 904 kit...you shouldn't. Talk about a grin.

I broke up, moved out, made up, moved back in, then broke up and moved out again with my (ex) girlfriend. Several of you gave advice and general consolation about my posted problems. Thanks for caring. I'm out again, and this time for good. I'm living with my brother and a friend. I will be saving a ton of money over my past situation. I'm going to stay with these guys as long as I can stand, but I think I'll be getting a place on my own in about a month. I've never lived alone before and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm going to park my bonnie in my future living room, a bachelor's dream come true. My living room furniture will be a futon, a bonnie, and a sears bike jack. YES!

Anyway, things are looking up, way up!

It'll be a good summer. Much love from the sweatmachine to all forum members.

Who wants to ride?

Sweat, congrats on the bike and your newfound freedom. Enjoy both.

I have to admit, I love the bachelor life enough that I'm in no hurry to date anyone. It's awesome -- I get to listen to the music I want to listen to, watch the TV shows/movies I want to watch, have my friends over whenever I want, as late as I want, and most importantly, work on and ride my motorcycle whenever I want. My only complaint is that my apartment is too small to wheel my Bonneville inside.

What Mark said! Glad to hear things are looking up...
Tell SBBonnie he needs to go to Austin if he wants to oooggle co-eds! Dam fine place 6th St. is! SB does have some nice beaches and supposedly more Playboy Bunnies come out of the University of California at Santa Barbara than any other school, but for Womenz, I'll take Texas!

Can't wait to come ride with y'all

Sweat,

I lived alone for the first time after splitting with my (now ex) wife after 13 years together. Took some getting used to, but man is it great now. Nobody bitchin' at me to do stuff I don't feel like doing, I seldom mow the lawn, I can stay up until 2:00 a.m. listening to music or watching porn with impunity, and I can have a meal consisting of nothing but meat without anyone telling me I should have a salad. I've had a girlfriend for a year now (a new record for me), but she's got her own place and that's the way I like it.

As for livin' light (something I have a hard time doing), sounds like good counsel. Musician Todd Snider tells this great story about how to become a better songwriter. In his early days, he played a bar with an open mic night and followed some guy that had written a song that Willie Nelson plays. Snider bought the guy a beer and wanted advice on how to become a better songwriter. The guy told him that if you live your life in such a way that you can get the h@ll out of any place you're staying in 15 minutes or less, you're guaranteed to always have plenty to write about. Snider says it's taken him a lot of discipline to keep his life sufficiently f*cked up that he can do that. :-D

Congrats.

Enjoy it man. I didn't really settle down until wife #2 came along at age 34. We've been together for 23 years and I wouldn't change a thing.

I'm agreeing with that.... but I'm more of a bachelorette.... and I'm in a house, but still can't get an America inside...the step at the door is too big and if I was to put a bit of wood or something as a ramp, I would get it round the corner into the front room. But the front room is full of bits...the sissy bar is currently on the floor in front of the TV...the stand in front of the book case......

Sweatmachine, I look forward to an updated clip of the UBER-BONNIE and thanks for the last clip. (That clip, and a strong cuppa joe, gets the adrenalin flowing in the a.m.) Many thanks, Steve

Man, the bike/life/relationship was definitely a parallel and almost related ordeal, each one a very frustrating, nerve-wracking, stressful nightmare.

Luckily I lost the girl and got the bike back.

It's like a moto-love story. :-D Now it's summertime, the bike is running, it's time to chase some strange tail! :bday:
