In the NYC Long Island area.

I’m getting some stuff painted and there is a problem with the Standox/Dupont conversion or something like that.

The bottom line is my painter has my parts primed and is waiting for me to give him a sample of what the color should look like.

I have a pantone color book so if I can just do a comparison of the orange I can send the matching color swatch down to my painter and get the process underway.

Thanks for your help

I have no idea what the 'standox/dupont' conversion means...but Triumph has posted the paint codes on their web site......Click for Paint Codes

probably won't help since it seems maybe that your painter is not using dupont and trying to convert the code....??? but thought I'd post anyway just in case

Have them scan the orange on the bike and then they can match it up.

good luck

can't help you but there's a white/orange t100 that is usually parked on riverside drive and 82nd/83rd. i know cause i pass it everyday. i guess the guy just likes parking it. maybe you could write the guy a note, stick it on the bike and have him contact you.

good luck

Surfer,
PM me and I will forward the Standox codes for the Opal/Tangerine. This came from Standox, which is the supplier in the U.S., not Dupont, which I thought.
It took mw awhile to get the info from Triumph so that Standox could give me the full codes. A pint of the Opal cost me $65.

Thanks for all the help everybody. The story of the standox conversion is a long one so ill save you from all the gory details but my painter uses PPG, most paint companies have pre-made conversions so say if the original paint was Dupont there is a PPG conversion (or equivalent) of that color. It would seem that Standox and PPG don’t seem to play nicely together.

I don’t have an Opal/Tang T100 (but I very much like the color combo) so I didn’t have any samples to start. I figured if I could find one I could just compare it to my pantone chart and then give my painter a close match. The problem was I couldn’t find one.

In the end I just chose my own orange and white.

Thanks again for looking out for me.

Morbit,
The codes may have changed recently. I've always pulled the actual formulas from Standox....but last time I checked, they were being updated.

Mark,
The Standox codes I have came from Standox mid-May '07, so should be current.
