I got a good price quoted to me from a reputable powder coater, I love the look of powder chrome. If you haven't seen it, it looks a lot like polished aluminum.

I was thinking about getting the tank badges that just say "TRIUMPH" in big letters in all black, and I'll have black 17''mags on my bike soon, so it will offset some of the silver.

Thoughts?

I really dig the all black, but black fenders/sidecovers and wheels would look sweet with a powderchrome tank.

Interesting Sweat. My initial reaction is "icky" but I have never seen powder chrome. Got a pic?

I haven't heard about powder chrome but it sounds like a cool combination. When I had my Bonnie black I was considering a paint scheme much like the Scrambler's with aluminum on bottom and black on top with gold pinstriping or all aluminum with a black strip down the middle.

I think a entire tank in powder chrome would be a little over the top...maybe a black tank, with powder chrome scallop's...or some sort of accent wouldnt be so overwhelming against all the black?

I think that look would go really well with the other stuff you've done. It'll look like one of those old works racing machines. I say get er done. If you get bored with it later you can always repaint or pick up a black tank.
Cheers

Sounds cool, do it. Do it the way YOU want, not what anyone else wants.

Sweat, I think you should do it. I've been drooling over some of those Bratstyle Japanese customs you linked to a while back and some of the ones that look most stunning are the ones with big star mag wheels and powdercoating. Because of that link I can't stop thinking of heading that direction with mine. :-D
I'll love reading about it whatever you decide to do!

Jeff - look into ceramic coating on the tank - my coater charges no more for that than PC. It's very durable - more so than PC and looks VERY much like polished alloy - in fact when you polish it with blue magic - it produes the black scrunge on your towel just like aluminum. I ceramic coated some chassis parts on the thrux - they look just like polished alloy pieces.

Here is an extreme close up on the T100 pipes - it looks very much like the polished brake pedal - but niether one is as "clear" as the chrome engine cover.
