Hi all.
I will need to rejet my carbs soon as Im looking at new pipes. Firstly has anyone got an exploded view pic of the carbs I can study and can I do the rejetting without much bike harware removal. ie do it while it is on the bike with removing the carbs or other parts.
Help appreciated.
regards

easiest way, in my imho, to remove carbs. loosen clamps at air box, remove 4bolts holding airbox on (around battery), remove connector for tps and carb heaters, remove bolts for manifolds at the head, then with the airbox loosened an bolts removed, manifolds come out to their respective sides, the carbs will swing out to the left side of the bike without removing the control cables. I suggest a book.

You do NOT have to remove the carbs. The only issue is that the screws are kinda hard to get to so you have to be a bit of a contortionist with your hands. First thing to do, and trust me it's not an option not to do this, is to get a set of allen head screws for the carb bowls. They are hard enough to remove with the little space under there with a allen screw let alone the phillips the bike comes with. Once removed you'll want to replace them with allens to make the next time much easier, and you WILL be doing it more than once probably. You can get a set at newbonneville.com.

You will want to rejet both the mains and needles too. Shimming the needles is good enough, tho using different needles can sometimes be beneficial depending on how far you go with the mods. The needles are accessed thru the top of the carbs, and the allen set newbonneville sells contains screws for the tops too.

So in a nutshell, it's easy and no need to remove the carbs at all. It's just going to seem hard to get your hands situated in such a way to remove and replace the screws. Some find it harder than others possibly partly due to hand size. But after the first time or 2 it gets much easier once your hands get accustomed to how to get in there best.

Thanks for the help peoples. Forgot to mention that it was a 2007 Speedmaster but im sure it didnt matter too much. Anyways, I have just had its first service completed (A$316 for oil and filter and a check up Hmmm) so now I will be looking into putting louder pipes on. I was making sure that the carbs job was something I could do.
thanks again for the replys.
What a site, you people are fantastic.

Mate they saw you coming. You better learn to do the next service yourself. Buy yourself the Haynes manual a bottle of oil and a filter all up about $100. You save 200 towards your pipes.
I don't know if this link still works I can't get into some other stuff as well but try it
