Another RAT Pack group ride today. Very tiring without my windscreen on, but a lot of fun. Well, except for one part.
The krew assembles. There were actually zero Daytona 675s or Tigers here this time. Speed Triples and Sprint STs were the winners of the numbers game. BTW, there seems to be special pricing on the '07 Sprint STs because a grand was knocked off and hard luggage was getting thrown in as well.
The ride was going pretty well up near Hemet, but tragedy struck. Captain Tragedy. One of the riders on a Sprint ST was riding with his wife on the back. They hit a weird dip that made the rear shock rebound in a strange way and they went off the road.
this is not the dirt for where the sprint st motorcycle goes
The left side of the bike was scratched up but not in terrible shape. He knocked about three or four cups of dirt out of the lower plastics. Unfortunately, the shift lever was bent. He tried to bend it back into shape with my Leatherman.
That did not go very well.
We regrouped and as the owner was telling everyone what happened, the ride organizer went up behind the Sprint ST and poured a little bit of water on the side of the bike and down below. He tapped the owner on the shoulder and said, "Dude, I think you have a gas leak or something." The owner was like, "OH... @!*&." And he went down to smell it and the organizer said "lol prankt" and everyone laughed. Good times.
In the end, we all made it up to Idyllwild and had a great lunch. Hooray.
