I've got 6500 on mine and the rear is starting to look worn (can't see the center grooves anymore). I'm thinking 1k more tops. Front should be good for a while though.

I got 12,000 miles out of my stock bridgestone rear.
I replaced it with another bridgestone.
The front I am about to change now at almost 17,000 miles.

578, great looking ride you got there! Looks like a bike to go all day and still ask for more.

I also replaced my Battleax tires this week, but with Metzeler Lasertecs. It turns out my 75MPH vibration wasn't the engine but unbalanced wheels. I ordered 100/90-19 for the front and 130/80-17 for the rear but my dealer made a mistake and I ended up with the correct front tire but a 130/90-17 for the rear. That ended up being a great deal. The stock is 130/80-17 or 25.1" diameter, the 130/90-17 (and the 140/80-17) is 26.1" diameter. The front 100/90-19 is 26.2" so both are about the same size now. The rear tire drags on the ground when on the centerstand but it's very easy to put it on and take it off the centerstand. I'm not sure if it's the sidewall's being taller and having more sidewall flex, but the ride is much softer now and the Metzeler don't follow road grooves like the BT45's. These tires completely changed the way the bike rides, it's much more pleasant to ride now. I put 500 miles on them saturday and it's like riding on velvet. Also, the taller tire fills up the rear fender better and gives the bike a different look. I even took off my hard bags because it looks better without it now.

Your kidding right? That bike doesn`t have 500 miles TOTAL on it. :-D Thats the second cleanest BB I`ve ever seen. Oldsports bike is cleaner after a ride than my bike was on the dealers floor.

I got 8000 on my rear tire and close to 13,000 on my front (although it was cupping pretty bad by 10K mi). I was happy with the Bridgies and got them again.

I will get 8k from the back. The front has a lot of tread, but is cupped somewhat from my laziness in using the front brake (finger pull) in traffic slowdowns. O well?

How do they feel leaned over? My stock Metzlers were fine until 7k, and lasted until 11k. I replaced them with Lasertecs. They started pushing in turns very early, and the rear is starting to look worn at 6k.
If I'm only going to get 8-9k out of a tire, may as well ride something that sticks.

Man, you don't know how good we've got it. Coming from sport bikes, I was used to getting MAYBE 3500 out of a rear tire, at best, maybe 4-5000 off the front. That's not track riding, just street riding on a CBR 929 and FZR600. Just another one of the benefits of riding Bonnevilles with real world horsepower -- lots more miles to the tires. Another benefit -- less "Imperial entanglements" (i.e. cops). As one rider told me, the Bonnie is a "low ego emissions" vehicle.

It REALLY all depends on how you ride. BT45s are very low profile tires and are designed for tourning and mostly straight line and moderate sweepers. They are not great tires for the twisties, unless you ride the twisties at a moderate pace like this old man. They are fairly hard tires for increased mileage and have a wide center profile and narrow side profiles.
Since most of my riding is touring and I actually enjoy looking at what I am riding by, the BT45s are fine for me. If I were 40 years younger I wouldn't have them on my bike.
I have used them for years on the Nighthawk, the KZ650; and my Tbird. Routinely got 12K on the rear and 15-18K on the front. No cupping. Right now they have 8000 on them on the Bonnie and have just a little less that 1/2 of the tread left on the rear, and well over 1/2 of the tread left on the front.
One thing else that affects wear. If you want longer life to the tire do NOT inflate at the recommeded 32/38. I run at 36/40psi.
Take care.
