Ok - they are on the bike but I have 2 problems - 1st the carb support brace would not fit - not even close 3/8 to 1/2 inch off. So I left that off, no big deal to rig another support. Then after everything is together I get the old side panels and put them on to see how everything will fit. Well the side panels WILL NOT mount on the bike. Again at least a 1/2 clearance issue. They are not even close.
So what am I not doing right? Do you need to mount the plastic insulator - although in all the pics I see no one seems to have this. Or is the thrux set-up just different enough from the bonnie - maybe they shifted the motor forward? Or do I need to get the dremal out and go to work on the side panels? What ever the reason I seem to have lost a 1/2 inch somewhere in the set-up causing all these parts not to fit properly.
OK I'll be out riding for the next 7 hours (on the T100) so you guys and gals figure this out for me. Thanks !!

John, I have heard of that problem with the side covers, especially when the aftermarket manifolds are fitted. Did you use those?
I think the only solution is to relieve the cut-out a little more in the side cover. Do it in small increments, so that when your're done the tolerance will be close, and you can subtly reshape if you need to
or you could try the spacers and see if they bring you any closer-that might even make the support fit?

I can't tell from th pic above if you have the stock intake manifold's on the bike or billet aftermarkets. When I installed the billet intake's on my bike I found they were much shorter than the original's. This shifted the carbs closer to the motor, which may be the reason your brace isnt working out, as well as the side cover issue.
Now that you mention the side covers I do recall that
when I had my side covers painted, it was necessary to have the one on the left side of the bike dremeled out a little for proper fitting.
As for difference's in motor position or the thrux in general I really cant offer any advice, aside from the fact that the thrux top yoke position's the fork's about 5/16th's of a inch closer together.
Check out the intakes, and give Bill a call as well. You'll find that he will be more than willing to help you out.

Also John...( understand that my company was very busy at the time that I got my carbs and I had them installed by another )...Bill told me it's inportant to use the brass insert's for the cables as they can fray and cause drag. Apparently when mine were installed they werent used, mu cable now has a little drag to it and the throttle need's to be rolled closed.
Annoying for certain, the cable setup is about the only thing I dont like about the kit.

John, try switching the pods opposite of each other, or are you having problems fitting fwd & aft?
I'm using the heavy duty carb boots and mine fit fine, are you using different boots? Mine are a tight fit as well, but they will fit.
Are you talking about the center brace Bill supplied, I had to dremel the bolt slot on my bracket maybe a 1/4". Also, make sure you have the carbs seated properly, that is a big throat trying to fit into that boot, I used a little PET grease to ensure a proper seat.

Thanks for the replies everyone - but no new info - I was hoping I missed something and could avoid the dremel - but it looks like it's cutting time.
Sheldon - which brass inserts are you referring to? I received complete ready to go cables and installed them - did not see any brass inserts.
Geoff and Greg looks like I'll be using the dremel. The carbs are close to the motor, fore / aft issues - I did use the billet intake provided and it has been matched to the ports. All my body work is at the paint shop and I hope I catch it in time before they spray the side covers and apply the graphics and clear coats.

John, I dremeled the bracket, not the covers. Enlarge the hole so you can gain some adjustment.
Greg
edit: Sheldon is referring to the brass ends on the throttle side, they are taped to the packaging the cables came in.

Hey Greg - they are mounted and I figured out what I had done wrong. I mounted the rubber couplers upside down - kicking the carbs up. I had no reference so I went by my T 100 (now I wonder if the Triumph mechanic who did the work on the bike for the prevoius owner was competent) which had the fat side to the bottom so thats the way I put em. Then I saw springers post on rubber couplers and everyone said his where upside down. So I flipped em 180 and the side covers fit. I gassed it up and fired it off this morning - sounds unbelievably awsome - haven't ridden it yet - missing a few things like brake calipers and chain - but wanted to get it running.
How did you adjust the idle? I tried the adjustments and got it down from 2000 RPM to 1500, but can not get it lower. I have plenty of slack in the cables and can't seem to find any other type of adjustment. Didn't get a tuning manual - may have to go googling.
Thanks
John

Loosen you carb boots and engine mount bolt and try to square the carbs in the boots, it sounds like you are tweaked one side or the other.
Also I found if I unsprung the accelerator pump springs the throttle shaft seated better.
One more thing..lol...check and make sure the throttle shaft bellcranks are not contacting the tops of the carbs when closed, I had this happen. I had to take a file and relieve the carb top.
