The thread about Highway 1 Big Sur reminds me to share a great find I made recently on the CSAA website. (CSAA is the California State Automobile Assoc, the Ca version of AAA). They have pdf maps of regions in California that are free to download for members. What is really cool about them is you can zoom to whatever scale you want and then print your maps. For example, I took a trip last summer to the area north of SF (I live in San Jose, about 50 miles south of SF). I printed one map that was zoomed out to show an overview of the entire region, then printed several single page maps that were zoomed in to specific sections. Once you have the pdf files, you can print all you want so marking up your routes can be done "one-off" and you can either save or toss your routes.

These are awesome for planning backroad adventures. Not sure whether other states' AAA sites have them too, but sure worth taking a look.

If you're an AMA member there are also some routes listed by state.
Enjoy & ride safe.

Click here for the American Motorcyclist Association

But, YOU HAVE TO BE A MEMBER to see the riding routes.

American Motorcyclist Association

I hope you're just brainfarting there, John. kit:

Quote:
Founded in 1924, the AMA has an unparalleled history of pursuing, protecting and promoting the interests of the world's largest and most dedicated group of motorcycle enthusiasts. The AMA focuses on rights, riding and racing through its government relations work, by sanctioning road and off-road riding activities and overseeing professional and amateur racing events.

In addition, the AMA is the sole American affiliate of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the international governing body for motorcycle sport and touring activity.

The AMA’s headquarters in Pickerington, Ohio, is also home to the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum. The museum honors those who have contributed notably to our sport – be it racers like Dick Mann, designers like Craig Vetter, or publishers like Floyd Clymer -- in the Hall of Fame and also presents rotating exhibits of interest to motorcyclists and the general public in its three galleries.

If it's motorcycling, the AMA is very likely involved in it.
