....which bike would you have purchased?

I am curious which other types/styles you would have chosen.

I was looking at either the Kawasaki ZRX1200 or the W650. Totally different styles, I know, but I liked the styling of the old Eddie Lawson and the retro W.

if the Bonneville never existed?

in order of preference.

1. used Thunderbird Sport/ regular t-bird
2. used speed triple
3. Moto Guzzi v-11 sport or older 1000
4.Honda superhawk
5. Suzuki SV650 (new) or Honda Hawk GT in good nick

Meriden Project would be a certainty.......

I like the Zrex, but my legs don't reach the ground, I liked the old honda magna 750 with the V4, hell I still wouldn't mind one, but man with 4 pipes and a radiator and drum rear brakes they are kinda fugly.

I hadn't thought about it too much when I bought the bonnie, I stumbled on to the dealer's website and saw the bike online and bought it within 30 minutes.

I left my office at 6 and was riding home by 7, it was awesome.

I checked the bike shops locally looking for a newer bike to replace my 80 xs650. I have a bad nerve in my back and cant take the riding position of a lot of new bikes. the bonnieville looked right and when I sat on it, it was very comfortable. I am glad I bought it.

I'm into XS650s bigtime, so I probably would have bought a 2nd one. I still want another...I'd like to get a bad cafe racer XS with a built motor and maybe even, gasp, sell the bonnie!

nahhh

I had looked at three bikes last summer: Ducati Monster 620, Honda 599, and Triumph Bonneville.

The sport bikes were nice, but the Bonneville had so much more character, old-school-cool, and an easier riding position for a novice like me...
