I just noticed that my headlight is brightest at idle, which is 1200 rpm's on my 2005 T100. As I raise the rpm's it get dimmer. Not a lot but definitely dimmer. Is this normal?
Thanks
CC

Not sure what would cause that, if your still running the stock headlight bulb I would change it out for a silverstar or something similar however. My stock bulb was like....a candle at night.
Much better since I upgraded the bulb...although I cant say I recall having that issue with my stock one.

That's odd. Mine does the opposite. If I'm riding in town at night, stopped at a traffic light, it gets noticeably brighter as I rev the engine, then dims again as it drops to idle.

do yourself a favor, go to the local auto parts store and pickup a replacement bulb with the reflector etc.
Mine cost 12 bucks and is 3 times as bright, if not more. Totally worth it, and took maybe 30 minutes to install.
I don't have the model # in front of me, but I could get it if you're interested.

Pa-guy
Here is the part number for the brighter bulb I'm using in my bike.
H6024 XtraVision Headlight
High Performance Halogen Sealed Beam Headlight - Dual filament for both high beam and low beam - part number: H6024XV
I think it cost like sweat said its about $12-13.
I got it at Advance Auto.

Bike electrical systems are not my strong suit .... but I think you might also want to check alternator output and how the voltage regulator/rectifier is functioning properly, if the light drops off significantly as you increase the rpms.
Unfortunately, Haynes says there are no tests available for the regulator/rectifier (that little waffle iron looking thing under the headlight).
Someone on this site is sure to know some general rules of thumb for ck'ng this part of the charging system.
BTW - I did change out the stock lamp for one of the Sylvania 6024 automobile units .... lots better. All you lose is that dim little parking light. There's nothing wrong with the stock H4 bulbs, but our stock setup has either a poorly designed reflector, lens, or both.

When I went out to the garage this evening to confirm which model Sylvania headlamp I was running, big surprise. Low beam was out! Weird how that happens .... I'd just done a walk around a day or so ago to ck all lights, etc. So, off to AutoZone for the replacement. Everything went smoothly until the last two screws .... but after some putzing around, it's back together.

Put a digital volt meter across the battery terminals & check the voltage. That will let you know what the alternator is doing. But there won't be anything you can do about it. The only thing that will cause a bulb to get dimmer is a lower voltage. Why it is getting lower who knows. Has to be the regulation which means the regulator or diodes.
Get a Cibie or Marchal 7" headlamp & put a 55-100 watt bulb in it. You will love it.
