And yes I was actually looking forward to my ride. I live exactly 10 miles from our downtown starbucks - gotta have my coffee. 2/3 of my ride is freeway and man was it brisk! I was dressed for the occasion with more layers of clothing than the polar oppisite of Paris Hilton. Ha! I have the tour master elite gauntlet gloves and highly recommend them.... for short jaunts in the cold. Longer rides in this weather and you gotta go electric. And I just may. The folks at starbucks, where I'm a local legend - read~the idiot who rides here every weekday and asks for "the usual", just shook their heads. I was very happy to have that coffee in my hand I'll tell ya. I got another 10 miles into work from downtown and there ain't no better way to start your day. Cold or not I love this bike. Which is to say... If I drove straight to work it's 8 miles. My downtown route takes me to 20+

Anyone else this nuts about their bike?

Maybe, but I'm certainly not that nuts about my coffee.

Jimmy, 18 is pretty darn cold. Good for you!

My ride this AM was in the mid to upper 30s. Downright balmy compared to your trip!
Ride safe.

i'll ride to work until the temp hits below freezing and with electrics that ain't a bad ride at all. The only reason I won't ride any lower is because the idiots in stonebridge keep their sprinklers on which freezes on the streets I ride to get to work. Ice and two wheels just don't mix.

We expect 31 degrees tomorrow morning. I try to ride every day. Like you, the guys at the local downtown restaurant think I am crazy. I will probably ride tomorrow. Just need my chaps & face cover. Don't have electrics yet. But the leather face wrap around is perfect. I knew it would keep the air off of my lower face but I didn't expect the added benefit of my hot breath heating it up so much inside. I bet a full face helmet would help too. I drive about 10 miles too.
Coldest I ever rode was 5 degrees. Rode about 14 miles I guess. I had a 500 Honda with a frame mount fairing & the nylon bolts holding the windshield on froze & they all broke letting the windshield fall back into my face. That is what I call windchill.

I'd like to keep this going and hear what fellow riders wear to keep warm. So what do you say?

What do you wear for:

Gloves
Face protection under helmet
Pants
Boots
Socks
Layers?
