Maybe I'm getting paranoid after reading about recent accidents on the site along with a family member and friend having accidents this weekend. Along with my own several months ago.

Was thinking of upgrading the armor in my Cortech jackets to either Knox or Bohn armour.

I know the tourmaster's I have are CE rated but the Knox and Bohn seem to offer better protection. I did strike my left shoulder during my mishap and wonder if the armor needs to be replaced because of that.

Anyone done this or do I just need to step back and take a breath.

I'd do both, take a step back, breath, and then replace the armor. If you inspect the armor, you may find that it doesn't need replacing, but if you're already mulling it over in your head, replace it anyway for the sake of peace of mind.

One thing I did was on my First Gear mesh jacket & pants. They come with the foam armor, but you can buy the upgraded hard armor for them. I found that the pocket was big enough to leave the foam armor in, next to my skin, and put the hard armor in the pocket facing the outside. This way I get the benefit of the hard armor and the cushioning effect of the foam. Feels great, but I ain't gonna fall to test it for ya. :hammer:

Whoa.... timely. I want/need better protection too.

I need better boots, armored gloves that strap to the wrists, more abrasion resistance, hip/knee/shoulder/elbow armor, and substantial back protection.

Though difficult, I hope AeroStich might be able to fit me. I'm impressed with how impressed "Stich" owners are with their Roadcrafter suits.

The colder weather has arrived here on the West Coast, so I can wear my leather with all it's body armor now. But I'm now considering AlpineStar's waterproof "Recon" boots available in a wider size 7. Gloves are problematic as well, as my hands are small and need to wrap around the grips.

A retro Bonnie rider can't possibly look 'tougn-n-fine' decked out in a Hi Vis' Lime Green Aerostich costume, but in Black it might be a better alternative to James Dean Levis and a T' with a pack of Marlboro's in the sleeve.

As I get older, I get scaredi'er.

I got a Bohn armored shirt that I wear with non-armored leather jacket. It has hard CE armor on sholders and elbows; also good back and some chest protection. The shirt fits snuggly so proetection doesn't move around like on some armored jackets and suits that make you wonder if it will be in the right place if needed. I like the Bohn shirt and ability to wear it with different jackets.

Been looking at the Bohn and Knox shirts as an upgrade.

Ricksd do you find the shirt to be hot???

Also thinking of at least upgrading the jacker armour and adding a back protector for full lenght protection of my spine

After a wreck on my Thunderbird several years ago, I now have upgraded to the Vanson jacket and pants with T-pro armor (shoulders, elbows, hips and knees and back), Urban Combat lite boots and armored gauntlet-length gloves. There's nothing like good armor it to inspire a bit of confidence and you get used to the stiffness after a bit. It only takes one crash to convince you that full armor is the way to go. It's like American Express; never leave home without it.
