Hi there everyone

I've been lurking around here for some time now, and have even posted a couple of times but haven't said a proper hello to everyone yet. So... Hello :-)

As it says to the left, I'm yet to be a proud Bonnie owner, but am working on the student loans as we speak so hope to join you soon (well obviously not working too hard though or I wouldn't be writing this!).

Anyway, hello's aside, the main purpose of this is to report back with a few pic's from the International Bike and Scooter Show held at the NEC. Triumph had a pretty big stand and the Twin's featured quite predominantly. Sorry for the poor quality - I forgot my camera so these are from my phone

Black & White T100

Green Scrambler... which I like the look of the more I see it!

Silver Bonnie (with a red tank cover & cowl, two tone seat and silver side cover)

Bonnie Back (with a few chrome bits)... and despite my better judgement the perspex badge looks pretty good in the flesh

And there were also a few oldies from the National Motorcycle Museum.

Triumph Thunderbird

Norton Dominator

Scrambler

BSA Firebird

The one disapointing thing was the Triumph freebies. But I managed to blag a spare Triumph Pin that's going free to a good home.

If you are interested PM me your address and I'll get it in the post to you in the next day or two :-D [some quick PM'ing from English_Spanner, so this now gone]

Well hopefully it wont be too long before I'm asking you guys for your opinions on exhausts, AI removal, oil choice...

See ya later
Gav

I'm torn three ways at moment - I definitely want a Bonneville though. I know it's quite girlie, but it's the colour scheme thats proving difficult... The Black and Red T100 was my clear favourite of the 2006 range. However, I love the look of the silver standard bonnie with the blacked out engine and the Black & White T100 looks pretty sexy too. I bet there are more difficult decisions that need to be made in the world but this has stumped at the moment. I hoped seeing them would help but all look great!

Well, lunch is over and tba-golfer has spoken so I'd better get back to work

I agree that the routlette green is stunning in person and lame in the Triumph photos.

The local dealer has a 2007 roulette green Speed Triple on the floor. It is so cool looking that they already have a "sold do not sit" sign on it. Sold to one of the owners!

Can't agree about the perspex tank badge. It looks exactly like what it is, a plastic imitation.

Hi Nang,

I understand where you are coming from and I am not surprised that many (maybe even most) folk don't like the perspex badges. To some extent, I agree with you -- if you are trying to produce a "Retro Bike*" that imitates the look of the bikes of old as closely as possible it really doesn't fit. If however, you are trying to produce a "Modern Classic*" that has the feel of a bike from the 60's but with a definite modern twist, I think it can look pretty good. Below is a wider shot of the bike with the perspex badge and personally I think it works...

It all comes down to personal opinion though. One of the great things about the Bonnie is that it's a great blank canvas to make your own

* Sorry couldn't think of a better pair of phrases -- hope you know what I mean
