Perhaps you Bonnie Black owners feel slightly inadequate.

790 v 865.

Seriously, If you wanted a fast Triumph, you would be on an S3 or a 675 Daytona.

The classic bikes are for those of us who want to recapture the past. All the performance tweaks we enjoy doing will not make our bikes into Gixers.

I'm really old, 63, live in LA and remember Steve McQueen, Lee Marvin and Keenan Wynn riding in the desert scrambles.
None of their bikes had black cases. I also hung out at Bud Ekins' shop in Sherman Oaks and I don't remember any black cased Triumphs there.
Ride what you enjoy and enjoy what you ride.

Well I think the photo of the black engine and green and white tank look rather cool.

I must admit it goes against the spirit of the design for me.

It has too many shades of a 1977 Yamaha XT500 - fine bike but it's styling jars with 60's Triumph retro imho.

Hi All,
In defense of black. I think it looks Great, I have to admit, I was a sucker for the Black Bonneville because it invoked images of the 1930s-1950s British Bikes like AJS,Vincent (black Shadow) and Velocette.

I would like to see pics of anyone who has polished their cases and valve cover on the black as apposed to putting on chrome. That is what I'd like to do with mine.
