When I first bought my Bonneville T100 I had the dealer install chrome headlight brackets. Now I'd like to put back the original black brackets however I don't know to do this.

How difficult would this be to do?

Does anyone have any instructions or advice?

Better yet does anyone have a pdf file or know where I can look up info on this?

You can go in from the top or bottom, do you have a bike jack?

If you take the top clamp off you'll have to remove or cover the gas tank to protect it from dents or scratches. You'll have to take the headlight off, 2 bolts on each side and let it dangle by the wires.

You will probably have to open up the headlight and disconnect the turn signals in order to remove them from the brackets. It's a mess in there, but there's nothing to be afraid of. To see pictures look at my post HERE

Once the top clamp is off you can slide the brackets off the top of the fork legs, after you've disconnected the turn signals and removed the ignition.

It's all really straighforward, no suprises. I did mine by taking the fork legs out the bottom, I think it's about the same work either way, but you can do it one leg at a time which I think would be easier.

For that, you'd remove the front wheel, unhook the brake caliper from the left leg, and the speedo cable, then remove the front fender, and loosen the bolts on the triple clams, see also Keef's wonderful post on fork boot installation here

basically it boils down to taking it all apart...it really helps to have a proper motorcycle jack.

hey thanks.

I think you may be able to unplug the turn signals from the connectors, but you may have to solder the connections. I used aftermarket turnsignals when I put it back together so I soldered them.

Drop a line if you have any questions while doing it, as it's fresh in my mind...
