Thinking of buying one of the Triumph jackets, the one with the black and white chequred band across the back.
Anyone heard any bad comments on the jackets.

Thanks
Dave

Dave,
I have had one for about a year, & worn it in temps of 50-90 degrees. It has a zip-out liner & lots of vents for warmer weather. It has elbow & shoulder armor & is physically pretty comfortable. The ballistic-type material seems good, but haven't put it to the test, thankfully. The only criticism I have of the jacket is that the upper (shoulder) material and the lower material seem to be fading at different rates, with the shoulder area looking a little more faded-maybe due to more direct sun on the shoulder area.
I'd buy it again, and I think I paid about $200 for it.
Hope this helps a bit.
Bob

I've got the Romero, and it's really well built, good quality leather, etc. No complaints, except the $400+ I had to pay.

The black jacket with the black and white checked stripe does look sweet. I watched the Bonneville Vintage GP at the Miller Sports Park on Sunday, and there were a couple of guys racing Thruxtons and wearing those jackets.

I have the Textured Jacket (Checkered with Triumph and logos) and have found it to be comfortable and weather fast. Liner removal was key for me for hot and venting helps as well (vents in arms and back "exhaust").

The only issues I have had are:
1. Glove gaunlets need to be large to fit over jacket arms. Not sure if others have this issue, but I wear gloves over. Racer type gloves work but may need to squeeze jacket arm end in... Gaunlets work well, but most are way too hot...

2. Alot of people have them. Not really an issue :-D

I have 2, a Frontier fully perf black leather and a Blue leather w/ Triumph Logo across the front (can't recall the model) Both are size 46 with my normal suit size 46.

Good fit with a little xtra room in the shoulders and chest. I have an Alpinestars TZ1 in 48 which is an everywhere snug fit.

The TZ1 definitely will stretch & conform once the leather warms up but really only works well when fully zipped. My Triumph jackets are roomier and seem to be cut so they can be worn as a general use jacket.

Both Triumph jackets are armored and heavy enough to protect in the case of a drop. I feel they would stretch a little and would not be afraid to buy one if it fit snugly.

Quality is comparable to most premium jackets though the Alpinestars seems more consistent in stitch quality and a notch up on finish details.

I bought a 1 year old Triumph Chequer job off Ebay over here for about $120 ( new price in UK is about $500 - don't ask!!)

It is great AND here's a point...

Leather that has wethered /faded a tiny bit are BETTER than new ones that creak and look too shiny and stiff - and make you lok like a newbie with too much money.

Enjoy a great jacket!
