I'm on the 5 northbound at 75 MPH when a pack of sportbikes pass me. They then slow down till i catch up. Guess they wanted to show me how cool they are. One guy is about 10 feet in front of me in the next lane and he stands up on the pegs and keeps playing with the throttle till het gets the front wheel up. At 75 mph he takes off standing on the pegs with the front wheel almost straight up and he begins accellerating to keep the wheel up. He went probably 1/2 mile like that and by the time he backed down he was about 300 yards in front of me. Good thing too because his back tire was starting to wobble.

Now i gotta admit i thought that looked really cool. I enjoyed watching. But my second thought was this guy is as good as dead. I seriously doubt it was coincidence that i happened to see this because he only does it once a year or 2. Naa......theres no doubt this guy does this kinda thing regularly. So cool as it looked, theres just no way he's going to go on doing this for years w/o losing it at least once. Near the end he was heading into the next lane because you can't really steer too well on one wheel, and as i sad he was starting to go into a speed wabble. The freeway was fairly crowded too. A pretty amazing site i gotta say. But he will probably die or be seriously injured before long. Just crazy man !

The problem isn't that this idiot is going to kill himself some day, it's that he could take someone who is completely innocent with him! Not only that, but his antics and his ultimate downfall will only serve to be an example to the "powers that be" why motorcycling should be severely restricted or outright banned!
I'll admit, I'm no fan of "stunting", I personally wouldn't cross the street to watch these morons do their wheelies and stoppies, but that's just a matter of my taste. I'd much rather go watch the Superbikes at Road America or the flat trackers at the Peoria TT or the Springfield Mile.
If they want to do their stunts, they should be done on closed courses and with some sort of safety concerns, such as a fence or barrier between them and the spectators and an ambulance standing by in case of the inevitable mishap, not on our public roads!

P.S. With all due respect, how safe of a motorcycle rider were you at the time when you were watching this goof perform instead of paying attention to your riding on a crowded freeway? See what I mean about how this idiot might just take someone with him someday?

Jackasses.
I see this dangerous riding on the road once in a while, almost always a crotch rocket. They're making us all look bad to drivers.

Natural selection isn't working fast enough...

That's the kind of behavior that causes cagers to despise anything on 2 wheels. We all look alike to them.

I continue with due respect, but in your post you mentioned a speed of 75 mph. At that speed, had he lost it, you would have been involved before you EVER had time to react to what was unfolding. Running over him, running into his bike or having it or him tumble into you, being taken out by a swerving car or truck trying to avoid the idiot, being clobbered by a car while swerving to avoid being caught up in it, ETC.ETC. The scenario's of your being caught up in HIS STUPIDITY are endless with ALL of them ending in disaster for you.
These stunting morons are a menace to the public and an even greater menace to responsible motorcyclists! They aren't "cool" at ALL! They should be avoided at all costs!

Now if the guy doing the wheelie was riding a Harley Fat Boy, then that would be cool.

I am sure none of us here ever did anything stupid, or foolish, or fun when we were young (about 50 years ago?).

They ought to ban those motorcycles, or at least any with more than 30 hp, and sky diving, and hang gliding, and sitting to close to the TV set (or pc monitor), etc.

I saw a guy do a wheelie in the left lane in the middle of the Bronx on 95. Right next to the JErsey barrier on possibly the most pot-hole ridden stretch of road in NY. Not another biker in sight. Who was he showing off for?!?
