I cant decide between a scrambler or a thruxton. no need for stating the obvious differences between the two. I can modifie just about anything on either of the bikes, I believe they are on the same chasis platform.
Do I do a road burning sleeper ( Scrambler), or a go nuts cafe. Im working on a 73 bonnie cafe right now so this leans me towards the scrambler, although a sweet thrux would be nice as well, bore it out and slap a 180 on the rear and see ya, nice high rise 2 into 1, but i love sleepers too :???:

Look at the extra things you get with the Thruxton, the adjustable front forks, 18" front wheel and longer rear shocks, aluminum rims (never rust) seat cowl, cool looking speedo & tach with white faces, okay, you get the idea! That's what I have. You have to make up your own mind, it's what you want!

Easy to answer: There is no choice, you will need BOTH! I have been agonizing for months over this same question, and that is my only satisfactory conclusion.

I currently have a Thruxton, have had it for over two years now. For me, that's a long time, only bike I ever had longer was a 1977 Bonneville (6 years). I have been lusting for a Scrambler ever since they appeared, went so far as to have a 'deal' penciled with my local dealer, which I just could not go through with as it involved trading in my Thrux.

I live in very rural Pennsylvania, (PA Dutch Country), with a plethora of back roads that I am still discovering, even after having lived here for almost 30 of my 58 years. Perfect Scrambler country. However, I still like to get out on the faster roads, (straight and twisty), and really let it rip! The Thruxton is perfect for this. Not to mention the look - there is something just so right with the cafe styling of the Thruxton. Maybe it's my age showing, but that is what a motorcycle should look like!

The Scramblers just don't seem to be moving like first predicted. Before they were available, most dealers had a list of potential customers, that demand being met, the next few that came in have been lingering in the showrooms, and a number of dealers have dropped the price significantly.
Many of us in the USA are looking at winter coming on in the next two months, maybe a good time to score a new bike. I may test the waters again in the next few weeks, not many dealers like to carry over inventory from one model year to next.

My moral upbringing prevents me from robbing a bank or some such, but once that last kid is out of college, (one more year)!.. maybe I can swing adding a Scrambler to the fold. Then I can say "I have a collection of Triumphs"!!

If I was in your shoes, I'd go with the scrambler because you're already working on a cafe bonnie. Then you get the best of both worlds. :-)

I agree with foggydewhearst, i need both. Matttriumphs I also agree with, so I will get the scrambler first, and next year I will get a new thrux. Its always good when rationalization is done in groups, thanks guys

I went through a similar dilemma between the T100 and the Thruxton. I choose the T100 for ergonomic reasons, an upright seating position as opposed to a semi sportbike crouch. I figured I could ride a T100 longer and further than the Thruxton, ( much easier on my poor "widdle" middle-aged back!). That and the option of comfortable two up riding, and the T100 bumped to the 865cc mill made the sale.

I like both, the Scrambler for all around, not too distant riding, and the Thrux for sport riding along twisted roads.

Byroads, choose the Scrambler, but I decided to keep theThrux.

get the thruxton. It is made for real world road burning, not a fake dirtbike...
