Last Sunday I and my wife riding my T100 joined the "Rockers Reunion" from the Ace cafe, London. There were thousands of bikes there of all ages and of all types. The scene and the atmosphere was outstanding!
I've never done this sort of thing before (well I have, but not with so many bikes) so riding out from the Ace on the way to Brighton was quite an experience. The general traffic was quite heavy, quite apart from our contribution, so weaving in and out of it was something else. It felt like you had to have eyes everywhere more than usual and the first few miles was often at walking speed - something I'm not that used to with an inexperienced pillion (my wife); so keeping that up for so long I felt a little wobbly! However once we got out onto the open road things got a lot better, although the volume of bikes around us thinned as some riders shot of into the distance while others hung back, but there were still enough to make things nice.
I guess we all strayed over the speed limit from time to time to avoid riding in isolation too often and I did see one or two plastic rockets get pulled. By and large though there didn't seem to be any major incidents.
Arriving in Brighton we once again got down to second gear again as the traffic piled up once again. AS we rode into town thee were bikes everywhere, but we were making our way down to the sea front where the majority of bikes were parked up. The whole of the promenade was wall to wall bikes!
Later in the afternoon there was a display of stunt riding. Those guys were brilliant. If I had half as much control as those guys I'd be biker of the year! They were brilliant! Shame about the MC and his music though; that spoiled things a bit. I mean, this was a bike meet, a rockers reunion (although there were scooters there, as well) and the guy was playing rap for pity's sake!
Would I do it again? Cause I would.
Anyone else go?
