Hi Gang!
Just bought a pre-owned 2006 Bonnie T100 (Black & Red) today. The last one I owned was a new 1968 TR-6. I really liked that particular unit, but had concerns about long term longevity. I subsequently went the Jap bike route, but missed the lighter weight and handling of the Trumpets and ended up going to BMW .

I've been eyeing the new TR's for the past year or so and it appears that significant strides have been made in engineering advancements and reliability. So, after some coaxing by a few extremely competent, veteran riders, I decided to give the TR a try. Wow- a very nice, modern rendition of a fine classic machine !

While I,m not into noise (my Harley has STOCK mufflers), I'm not very impressed with the stock TR mufflers (which I'm sure can be contributed to the EPA). Back in the 60's, the TR stock mufflers had a great sound, while not noisey or offensive. Hopefully I'll get some positive input from the board on this matter.

I don't plan on doing long-distance touring on this bike, but do expect to do a lot of local, fun riding on it!

Regards,
Bob

Hi Guy, your story sounds very familiar....
I too used to ride an older Trumpy (an old, chopped 5TA ), and thought the new bikes sounded like the Jetsons hovercar, EEEEK!
I can recommend the Thunderbike aftermarket pipes. Not too loud, but they give your bike a lovely british growl. I like the reverse cone megaphone look too.
You'll no doubt get lots of advise here on this topic, and heaps of sites now have good sound bites too(including Thunderbike.) Altho mics are funny things....
Well that is enuff of my shameless plugging of this great Kiwi company. They already have heaps of my money...

Good deal!
I picked up a 2005 slightly used Bonneville black and like it.
You want the TOR's (Triumph off road) silencers, they look exactly like the stock ones, sound louder but not real loud.
They sound louder if you open up the intake and/or do carb mods, but are still on the quiet side.
A nice compromise.
they also boost power a lot.

I have stuck with Triumphs, but had a few harleys when Triumph closed up shop in the US.

The new bikes are good modern bikes, but I like the old ones better, they need more tinkering (which I like).
The new one I just change the oil on and thats it besides the carb work (dynojet kit).
What are you supposed to do on a cold rainy day with these modern bikes?

Brett
