I just picked my new Thruxton up after work today.
I've been considering a Triumph for awhile now, talked to alot of guys, test rode em and finally decided to take the plunge. I am really impressed with this bike. I've been riding nearly 40 years and had all kind of bikes. I totalled my Harley last January when an idiot ran a red light. I was blessed and lucky to not get a scratch. MY bike and a car were totalled...so I started looking at bikes again...the very cool Triumph Scrambler photos I saw got me to look at Triumphs. Back in the day I used to ride Nortons and a BSA 441 in the desert. They were good bikes in their day but not now. When I saw the Thruxton that look was it for me. Now that I just rode it for the first time this evening the first thing I noticed is it shifts SO SMOOTH. I am taking it easy right now breaking it in and I went and ordered the Staintunes for it.
I already know THIS IS one of my all time favorite bikes to ride. If you are thinking about getting one of these you should. I don't want to see the prices go up but I do think these bikes are a bargain. You will not be disappointed. GET ONE and RIDE ONE! Ride a bunch of bikes and then you decide. BUT Do not just look at the spec sheets on bikes or you'll end up with a F4 Phantom 2 fighter jet which you may not like taxiing around town in. Anyway greetings to my fellow twin riders who know what I now know...

Well put!

If you enjoy it 1/2 as much as I enjoy my Scram you may well have found your Bikey-Soul Mate

Welcomewelcome, ocguyocguy, is there an echoecho in here!? Great choice. There are several riders here that mirror your exposure to the "old" British bikes and have enjoyed the "new" Triumphs. Sorry the HD didn't make it and glad you survived the wreck. The silver lining in that crash has allowed for you to enjoy all as you stated in your post.

Enjoy and ride safe.

I rode my new bike into work today and am really liking this bike! I forgot to mention yesterday in my first post that I had read in this forum of Triumph owners telling about how much people stop and talk to them about their Triumph motorcycles...I soon found out it is very common experience and true because a woman who knew nothing about bikes this morning told me how "cute" my motorcycle was while I stopped to get gas on the way to work. I though it was ammusing to hear but didn't expect it to happen to me so soon since yesterday I had JUST got home with the new bike in the back of my pickup truck when I am about to unload it in my driveway when a guy that I don't know stops his car in the middle of the street and yells "is that a Triumph"? I say yes...he then asks can I come over and look at it....so we talked bikes for awhile, he loved it and I told him stop by when he gets his Triumph and we will go riding. By the way the employees at S. Cal Triumph in Brea Calif. where I got my bike were first rate and I recommend them. One last thing if you get too many compliments on your motorcycle do you need to rejet? I hope not.

Cute?! She called your Thruxton CUTE?!?! I recommend some Predator pipes quick. The next time someone calls your bike cute you jump on and open her up as you pull away. They will rethink the "cute" comment.

Anyway, welcome. Enjoy the bike.

Have a blast with your new Triumph...get used to the questions.....Had a guy see me putting my helmet on from across the parking lot and he came running to talk to me...I was polite but after a few minutes told him "I gotta go" which was the truth....Alas, be prepared for delays....

I get a lot of compliments on my Thrux all the time. Riding it is a happy feeling.

Congrats. If you want to do Angeles Crest HW, let me know.

Call me silly, but if it attracts ladies they can call it anything they want. Besides, in the feminine vernacular, cute is very high praise indeed! It doesn't get us quite as puffed up with pride as if they had called it, say... cool, bitchin', or even (from my day) boss, but it's high praise nonetheless.

Just make sure you check your six to make sure she wasn't referring to the puppy in the window behind you.
