Euro Bike Ban?
This is part of an article in the August 2006 issue of American Motorcyclyst:
" European riders looking for a new motorcycle might want to act fast. Because if a group of bureaucrats gets its way, the only bikes they’ll be able to buy in the future will be 650cc or smaller singles with automatic transmissions.
As crazy as it sounds, that’s a serious proposal presented in a report titled, “Reduction of Energy Use in Transport” that was prepared by a working group of the European Union.
That 15-member team, made up of specialists from European Union member states, is part of the EU Joint Expert Group on Transport and Environment, which helps set policy and draft legislation affecting the entire continent. And that means the proposals it generates really could become the law of the land someday."
