I was considering ordering the flat tank rack, the accompanying tank bag, and also the locking gas cap from Jenks Bolts (assuming they have it in stock); anybody out there try any of these products? I like the idea of this tank rack/bag because it looks like it won't scratch the paint like maybe a magnetic one would. Plus, I think with the Scrambler, if you fit a tachometer, the regular tank bag won't fit (too big). I think I remember hearing from someone that the locking gas cap sits up high on the tank, but maybe that was a different one compared to the one Jenks Bolts is selling. Mille Grazie.

ever think of a tail bag? Loads more capacity, not in your way, no scratches to worry about.

Well, I have the high sissy bar from Triumph (so I can't fit a rear rack with that, unfortunately), which by the way looks pretty good on the Scrambler (I thought it wouldn't, but when it was installed I did a double take). Interestingly, the high sissy bar detracts from the bulbous rear tail light, which I was going to change, but now I'll just leave it. Also, if you have the small clear fly screen, the rear sissy bar kinda balances out the front and back of the bike. So, anyway, I'm also getting the city bag for some storage, but thought it would be cool to have extra storage, and this tank bag is very easily removable. As far as the tank rack, I'm not sure if it would scratch the paint, but I think since it mounts with suction cups, probably not, as long as the bike is really clean when you mount it. I'm curious as to whether it would look good on the bike.

You could always mount a tail bag on the back of the seat in front of the sissy bar. I have a HD (gasp) barrel bag that I use on occasion. Functional but not "pretty".

I have the locking petrol (gas) cap. Hardly any higher than standard, works well with a Euro-syle magnetic tank bag. Looks similar to standard from a distance. Much easier to get off though.

I have a Monza cap which looks lovely but that is too high for a magnetic tank bag.

Hey Carl,

Can you tell us more about the tank rack. I was thinking of getting one but was advised against it. I love the retro style and the functionality would be useful - the darn gas cap gets in the way of my magnetic tank bag.

As I recall, the complaint was that the suction cup mounts were not strong enough to hold any weight. Someone said that rack was more about fashion than function.
