I have a 2005 Bonneville and really enjoy the motorcycle. Haven't had one for a long time and then mostly dirt bikes. I happened upon this website and found some articles on removing the baffles and the articles mentioned drilling through the remaining baffles with a half or three quarter drill and then re jetting accordingly. What I couldn't find was the number of holes you where to drill and how that would relate to the size of the jet you would install. I suppose with enough holes you would have straight pipes. I have already removed the baffle in the rear with a hole saw and it sounds much better. Any help much appreciated. Thanks Peter

I drilled about 5 1/2" dia. holes through the front baffles. welded a bit onto a 1/2" rod about 16" long, marked it with a piece of tape where it would reach all the way through to the front of the muffler. Made it sound much better, but now I have straight through baffle less tear drops on and the debaffled stock pipes on the shelf in the garage. I didn't rejet myself, the shop worked on it and they did whatever it needed. In fact I didn't do a thing with jetting with the teardrops and it runs and sounds great.

Here's the drill I used. It's 1/2" and about 20" long total

What you want is a definate formula - one does not exist. There are recommendations - and you'll get pleanty, soon, I'm sure, but no formula.
Unless you open up the intake, your more open exhaust is not going to 'blow' more than the intake 'sucks'. And the intake is restrictive. Since the bike is very lean from the factory, some rejetting with your slightly opened exhaust is reasonable to do. I've removed the restrictor plate in the airbox, so my jetting won't help you. (Nice sound though, eh?)
